I burned loads of DVDs with my favourite shows in the mid 2000s, almost none of them were readable only a few years ago… good thing is I switched to a jellyfin server and found better encodes of pretty much all the shows

lol, I went to Montreal for a conference once and needed to print a poster at A1 size, but the file was made for A2 of something. The clerk at the copy shop told me it wouldn’t fit, so I told him to just rotate and scale up. He kept insisting it would leave a white border until I finally got him to just try it… I was flabbergasted that even at a print shop they didn’t know how these paper sizes work

no, he’s referring to the c suite: CEO, CTO, CFO etc
both are a bad comparison for ICE, which is much more like the SA: low-level thugs used to intimidate the opposition and steal elections, to be discarded and replaced the moment they’re no longer needed

personally I love the way gnome apps use CSD, but then I only ever use gnome. I’m not a fan of the absolute statements people make here, either saying CSD is terrible or superior, I feel like their actual usage is a personal preference.
that said, I would prefer if the gnome project made much more of an effort to integrate its apps into the wider ecosystem. They could add an option that GTK listens to that turns the title bar into just a menu bar, allowing SSD desktops to provide their own decoration. and the gnome desktop could also provide default decorations for apps that don’t have CSD. I think this would provide a better experience for both gnome users and users of other desktops
this is how I ended up finding out there are now much better rips available for many of the shows I burned to DVD in the mid 2000s

I’m not autistic, and neither are my friends, but we are nerds who generally work in tech or adjacent fields. most of us watch anime and play video games, and I feel like it’s more accepted in general society now to do so as an adult. So in general I’m not sure those interests mark you as being young for your age anymore
north reference and scale? who’s going to try to navigate using this map? it’s just a way to indicate some stats by country

that’s quite possible, yes

I don’t think he was talking about spending 5 minutes on a message, just that it’s not actually going to take you much longer to send what you want to say in a single message rather than 3 separate messages with one of them being a correction. So it wouldn’t make much of a difference to the sender, but it’s much nicer for the receiver.
my first search result for vlc is videolan.org. I thought that was correct, but now I’m doubting

can confirm, found the first episode disgusting enough that I haven’t felt like watching any others

my only complaint with it is the same complaint I have with all kpop: it’s autotuned to hell and back. I suppose many people like how it sounds, but it’s not for me

not true at all! I play Magic, not D&D

I don’t see the options, are they the same in the EU?
here I am storing my movies in well compressed 1080p av1 and considering it an upgrade over streaming. to think there are people using 80GB per movie. I suppose if you have a great screen and eyesight it might be worth it, but for me I don’t think I’d really notice the difference even if I bought a better tv
i believe you, you can’t even afford letters, let alone netflix
the issue isn’t just that she’s reading and hearing these comments online, the issue is that teenage boys are doing so. social media has normalised this kind of behaviour to them, and they bring those views with them to the real world where girls will interact with them: school, sports clubs etc.
