snac.notnull.space is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

    @[email protected] honestly, I'd say it's not worth it.
    First you have to find an SSO provider that works with all the self-hosted stuff, then configure each self-hosted thing to work with said provider, if that's even a feature.
    Just logging into each of them independently it's massively easier to handle, in my opinion

                                            @[email protected] think I've got an old PCIe somewhere from my old laptop that did work. I'm inspired to grab that and give it a go.

                                            Truth be told, I'm a little miffed with my Framework - yes, there's the racism, but more practically it's just a bit clunky, the exchangeable panels on the top aren't great and overall it's not worth the money, I don't really want to spend more on it... But I'll relax about it in 6 months or so

                                                But I bought the wrong laptop - FW16, unsupported WiFi card (though work is underway)
                                                My spare is a 2015 Macbook Air - I've tried getting FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD on it but all fail for various reasons

                                                I do have #OpenBSD on my portable desktop though (minisform S100 - great little thing) so all is not lost!

                                                      @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] there was (perhaps still is, but it's slightly modified now) a situation where if someone you followed replied to a comment by somebody you don't follow, you would not see that reply in your home, local or federated timelines (though it is shown in the followed person's profile).
                                                      I get it, and I totally see why that design decision was made, but it wasn't what I was used to coming from Pleroma. Not sure if the same behavior exists in mastodon.

                                                      Anyway, doesn't have any of those types of timeline masking things, so it's much nicer in that respect 🙂

And GtS hides a lot of posts (by design - fair enough) which i didn't like - I used to compile my own fork that "fixed" it, but haven't maintained that in a while - I just swap over to my snac instance check up on that instead.
