  • Look, if you can’t support the absurd concentration of wealth at the organizational level how are you going to keep your head on straight that this is all normal and acceptable at the systemic level? Next you’re going to say that wealth should not be based on whatever the next charlatan shits out at Davos or TedX but actually sustainably improving the world for humans?

Keep the faith, surely those gains will trickle down soon.

  • Economics and making them feel the pain will get them results sooner, though both approaches are warranted.

The EU and global stocks are already surging as the US is in full retreat from anything but christofascist grifterdom. Shooting themselves in the foot, destroying close ally relationships, handing economic and infrastructure future to China and others on a platter (sustainable energy, batteries and electrification, education, transportation…).

Just like despots in North korea, Thailand ore anywhere else, the dictators will cut themselves off, keep themselves rich while their actual power wanes. And eventually be overthrown, but of course it will be all too late for the US by then. Probably have to fight Qatari drone armies to try to take back our national parks that will have been privatized.

  • What fuckwit made this graph? The highest, largest positive return should be on top, e.g. the pink. Contradictorily, the returns per annum is sorted like this with the top return of stocks being on top.

Cash is not accurate- unlike another asset that can then be redeemed or sold for an increasing amount of money/cash, the $1,500 actually represents the devaluation of cash/fiat over that time if $1,500 is what 2026 cash is worth compared to 1965. If “cash” was actually a bank savings account rate or something, fair enough I guess but it should be labeled as such.

  • Related: Marjoe, is a 1970s Oscar winner for best documentary about a child preacher, Baptist preaching, the money involved in the preaching/god industry, and to a degree clearly exposed the raw core of manipulation inherent. It’s a documentary so doesn’t come straight out and say it, so it could be interpreted differently perhaps by a strong religious conservative. It’s a fantastic exposé.

Honestly some of the Michael moore movies; Roger and me might hit different for some of those folks now that they’re suffering the continued effects of wealth concentration that is so flagrantly and unashamedly happening. Sicko will probaby hit many folks across the aisle as the issue is universal. Bowling for Columbine might be interesting depending on if they are a gun nut.

The atomic cafe is in my top 5 movies of any genre. It’s not just about arms proliferation, it pulls together a ton of cultural pieces and shows how naive, propagandized, and horrible a nascent fascist nation began post WWII.

  • TBH, and after reading some of the comments it seems to line up with this how Op post is “duh”, and low effort and thinking about it more makes me wonder if this is botception and that’s why it’s all ringing weird bells and bothering me? The post feels like a vague dissemination of generic information (read bot/LLM) linking a wikipedia article that reads like someone non-human smashed it together (read bot/LLM). I’ll leave what I started as a response before I arrived at this post. _-------------------------

I think this is the worst Wikipedia I’ve ever read and as a 30(?) year user that has maybe never time to criticize a wikipedia page (blatant bias or trolling aren’t worth the effort), it’s saying something.

It doesn’t list obvious things like sports or any other activity from bingo halls, board games that would probably be some of the most common activities in the world.

Their concept of the phrase seems almost like an opinion that isn’t really applied at anytjing more than an adolescent knowledge of a subject without any source material.

The one part of their writeup I (subjectively) had heard (alcohol being described as an social lubricant) was described as “negatively viewed” though that seems like a limited claim/opinion. Which feels weird and information without any synthesis.

  • We’ll just end the program and people will no longer have to contribute! Honestly the number of fuckwits who would be excited about this is the sad part. Then they’ll cry the leopards are their face when they are being forced into amazon labor camps at 83. Stupid people can’t keep nice things. They never understood their value and didn’t have to sacrifice for them. So the lesson will have to be learned again.
