The old version didn’t and some retailers still sell that.
We have found customers prefer the experience with the app! It is just the the experience without the app, but more modern. iOS only for now, but an Android version is expected soon!

Global News@lemmy.zip•As China's economy slows, some young people are snapping up cheap apartments to 'retire' earlyEnglish
4·15 hours agoGood for Chen and Ban! They deserves better than 996.
This will be interesting impacts on China if it becomes a larger trend, though no reason to think it will become a much larger trend.
Chen used to dread the grind of her nine-to-six job, which she said “felt like marching to my own death.” Now, she wakes at 10 a.m. every day, filling her days with cooking, chilling, and long walks on the beach.
“I never believed that work is the meaning of life,” Chen said. “My ideal state of life is not to work and stay at places that I like.”

Climate@slrpnk.net•National Park Service database flags hundreds of items that might ‘disparage’ America [includes references to climate]
3·1 day agoCurious. Why would there be hundreds of items disparaging America? Perhaps we should discuss this. Perhaps feature each item on TV.
An unrelated bit cool about clay from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clay_mineral.
Given the requirement of water, clay minerals are relatively rare in the Solar System, though they occur extensively on Earth where water has interacted with other minerals and organic matter. Clay minerals have been detected at several locations on Mars,[15] including Echus Chasma, Mawrth Vallis, the Memnonia quadrangle and the Elysium quadrangle. Spectrography has confirmed their presence on celestial bodies including the dwarf planet Ceres,[16] asteroid 101955 Bennu,[17] and comet Tempel 1,[18] as well as Jupiter’s moon Europa.[19]

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Why is Western double standard so normalized? If Russia or Iran did 1% of what Israel & US do, the outrage would be endless. Why do rules only apply to them?
183·3 days agoI don’t think conversations are helped by generalizations. “Western” pulls lots of individuals and nations, with near zero power, into the blame.
Likely blame is the extremely wealthy that own the media and politicians.

Reminder for self: 2030 is 4 years away (not 30.)
Is the lesson not to get hit by a missile?
This is why nudist colonies are so vibrant. Easy as.

World News@lemmy.ml•As Trump Marches US Toward Iran War, Critics Ask: Where's the 'Pushback' From Dems and Media? | Common Dreams
1·4 days ago“The Squad” are Democrats. The other two names are currently valid for my point.
“The Media” always frames things as if the minority group should be winning. Republicans have the majority, they should not be absolved when they are needed to increase the total number of votes to a majority.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Time for Open Source Community EV's to Be Made. Anybody want to do something like that?
2·4 days agoElsewhere in this thread. Anyway, here is what I had said:
There are “electric truck” conversion books from the 1970s. (Only trucks as they used lead acid batteries, which are still extremely heavy for useful amounts of stored energy.) This indicates it is not extremely complex, though possibly still very complex. (My reason for this assessment is from reading a few of them, but never implementing any of it.)
Anyway, here is a title to look for, from 2011, " The electric vehicle conversion handbook : how to convert cars, trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles : includes EV components, kits, and project vehicles" by Warner, Mark, ISBN: 9781557885685 1557885680.
2021’s “Convert It!: A simple step-by-step guide for converting any classic car into an electric vehicle.” by Ron Toms, ASIN B093CH8HR7.
Neither are from the 1970s, but both are likely more useful anyway. There are also likely others that I cannot immediately find. I have read neither, yet.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Judge Approves $345 Million Verdict Against Greenpeace in Pipeline Suit | Greenpeace has said the verdict could bankrupt it. Lawsuit was over the group’s role in protests vs Dakota Access Pipeline
13·4 days agoSounds like Greenpeace needed to be organized as a million separate legal entities. Just like an insurance company, or a multinational.
“Sport Nuts”. Yeah, they are going to hell…
“So Called Christians”, sounds like the sorta person the sign holder is.
They are a bit rather literalist, but they have a point.
Only “do less and consume less resources” won’t end suffering. It will limit certain kinds of suffering.
Feeding those without enough healthy food may require more resources (many reasons people don’t have enough food, sometimes those reasons are “war”.)
There are other kinds of suffering as well. Bad governments abusing people. Weak governments not protecting people. Not enough medical care, or the wrong kind of medical care. Unsafe neighborhoods, and unsafe homes.
Undoubtedly, there are hundreds of ways humans are suffering right now that I am not touching on.

As one would still need to return home, so the costs have got to be easy to add up at that point (3x more than was spent already, assuming a constant cost). I just might have a “vision” telling me whomever was sorry or died.
