Aortic aneurysms and dissections are severe conditions of the aorta, often leading to uncontrolled bleeding, and they can be life-threatening. Aortic aneurysms are diagnosed when a section of the aorta has a diameter > 5.0 cm or twice the expected normal diameter. Aortic dissections are an intimal tear that creates a false lumen between the aorta’s layers, potentially causing such complications as malperfusion and rupture.
