The standards were different back then

I play it and enjoy it for its departure from standard D&D. It basically just codifies the way I wanted to play anyway, which is to say with a more narrative focus.
I have also found it to be combat heavy based on how the adventures are written out, and the system is clearly balanced for its board-game style combat rules. It’s not terribly cumbersome to keep track of all of the moving pieces even if it does seem a bit complex at first, and the hero skills can make for some cool heroic moments.
I think it would be harder to do theater of the mind for combat but not impossible. All of the forced movement abilities might make things difficult to track unless a lot of things are handwaved, but I think they’re all surmountable problems.
I also like the character creation well enough that even if you don’t use the system you should absolutely steal the character ideas.
Our online group has been beta testing the Draw Steel official VTT, the Codex, and it’s been a really great way to experience the game thus far. MCDM’s whole operation is far better than D&D for my money, and I haven’t seen any signs of them even slowing down.
Yeah, if I wanted to see what’s happening on reddit I would just be there instead

Technology@lemmy.world•Discord Users Threaten Exodus Over Age Verification Face Scan ControversyEnglish
31·17 days agoI assume it’s UK/EU’s expanding social media laws that are driving this, in addition to Discord’s imminent Initial Public Offering coming in March. They’re trying to clean house to show how profitable they can be, the same way Reddit created their walled garden by restricting third-party connections prior to their IPO.
It’s bog-standard enshittification to please the shareholders.
The sharpening for these is particularly easy because you only really have to follow the angles that are already there. Even as a complete amateur I was able to bring new life to an old pair of Gingher scissors

11·21 days agoHow many polling stations are there in solidly blue areas?
If I needed to intimidate people into not voting but I only had 30,000 brownshirts I would just be very selective about where I send them, where they’ll have the most impact. Sending one anywhere isn’t going to do anything, it needs to be a large visible presence in order to more effectively spread that fear.
I bet 30,000 ICE agents at the “15 or so” places where Trump needs a better handle on the voting would be enough to change people’s minds about being there. Or maybe even stir up the base to have them come out and “help” the ICE army “monitor” the process. It feels like anything is on the table at this point.

Naw, but seriously, I would like to hear the more complicated answer to why wind isn’t as viable. Even with needing three to have the same capacity, and even assuming that it scales linearly, it still seems like wind is a lot cheaper for what they’re presumably trying to accomplish, which is to provide energy rather than extract value, right?
