The DMV might actually be sorry about it. The governor (who oversees the DMV) vetoed the bill, but the legislature overrode her veto. If it was up to the governor, this law would have never been in place.

The federal government will be subsidizing Florida homeowners soon enough. Florida is politically important and it’s is everyone’s god-given right to move to somewhere warm when they retire and have their homes rebuilt at no cost to them every 5 years.

I graduated from high school in a small town and in order to go to college of my choice, I had to move. I could have hung out and commuted to a community college, but I wanted the college experience.

I’ve literally done rm -rf / while root. I thought I was elsewhere and did rm -rf . and I was in the top level directory. When it took way longer than I expected, I hit CTRL+C about 10 times and looked at the damage. Oops.

Luckily it didn’t get to /home, but it did wipe out /bin and /etc. I had to rebuild the OS. I learned.

I learned to touch type on QWERTY in middle school. I do it mostly conventionally except for some reason I never really used the right shift key.

Same! Not sure how that came to be? Perhaps because right shift is too far away compared to left?

I never use the right shift key for anything. Any time I need a capital letter, it’s always the left shift even though that’s not 100% correct.

I was in the last class in my high school that was taught to type on an actual typewriter. So yes, I can touch type on QWERTY.

My wife (then girlfriend) took a typing class in college at my insistence that it would help her immensely. She agrees to this day that it was the best decision she ever made with regards to electives. I strongly suggest that everyone should take a typing class, be it free or paid.

I’m from a small town that has 3 factories in it. They employ a good portion of the area.

A friend of mine who was pretty socially awkward but really smart worked in one of the factories in the summers while he was going to college for accounting. He got his degree and…moved back home. He still works at the factory full time on the floor. We graduated high school in 2002.

This is an incorrect interpretation of the poll. The AfD would be the largest party in the Bundestag, but that doesn’t mean they would form a government. After coalition discussions, it could easily be CDU/CSU leading the way.

Edit: To be clear, this kind of support for the AfD is a really bad sign, but it doesn’t mean they’d form the government.

These are my experiences in Ohio in a privately-run in-patient hospital. I had two stays of about 6 days each.

1. No cell phones or electronics of any kind.
2. You can call family at designated times on a landline.
3. All of your belongings will be itemized when you arrive. All clothing with laces will either be locked up or you will be required to remove the laces from them before you can use them. Yes including shoes. Best to bring slippers. Everyone wore slippers.
4. There will be lots of programming from the staff there. Tons of group therapy. Art therapy. Music therapy. Sometimes the therapy dog would come around.
5. You will be very bored unless you do something. Bring a book. Bring some playing cards. Be prepared to do a lot of drawing if that’s your thing.
6. You will also talk a lot to your fellow travelers. It will be weird because you will know the most intimate secrets and biggest fears of complete strangers.

The time is for you to get better and figure out what is triggering your mental health issues. The most important thing to remember is that you will probably never be 100% “fixed”, but you can learn to live with your condition.

A decent amount of Americans are not in good enough shape to walk 3 miles in any amount of time.
