While it took me a few months to really notice it, that still shocked me. Using AI extensively makes you depend on it - and that’s exactly what the big players want. A customer paying a recurring subscription just to do their job.

Since I am not forced to use it, I deleted my OpenAI account and started to code without LLM assistance again. It’s much more fun to solve problems by myself (and get a dopamine kick out of that) anyway - and when the bubble inevitably pops, I can still go on as I did before.

Unless, perhaps, AI five years from now understands that too.

LLMs have already hit a ceiling, the improvements between new model releases are pretty much negligible. They had to come up with very expensive agents checking the output to reduce hallucinations. The best example for that is GPT-5 from OpenAI, which was extremely underwhelming.

I have a job and no one forces me to use AI. Feels like an absolute dream right now.

Most people didn’t even notice such a vote was happening until today, when it spilled over to lemmy.world.
A discussion topic about it on Feddit was only created six hours ago and most people in there are like “Oh no! Anyway…”.

Seems more like you want people to be furious. We can all wish for something, but that doesn’t mean it’ll actually happen.

My guess is that they’ll be seething when they find out.

From what I get, most of us are just relieved. The moderation team should definitely pop the champagne today, because there’s a lot less work to do from now on. 🍾

Ich hatte den Eindruck, dass Sie von einigen genutzt wurde, um mal richtig Dampf abzulassen.

Absolut, es wurde sehr emotional argumentiert und alle Deutschen grundsätzlich pauschalisiert. Eine Diskussionskultur wie man sie auch so auf Facebook unter AfD-Beiträgen findet (“die Ausländer”). Im selbsternannten Kampf gegen den Faschismus wenden sie die Methoden des selbigen an, ohne es zu bemerken.

Es hatte also viel mehr mit stumpfen Populismus (sprich ein paar wenige treffen die Entscheidung und vermarkten sie an die Gemeinschaft) zu tun anstatt mit echtem Anarchismus

Das hat man auch sehr gut daran erkannt, dass zwei sehr aktive User dort die Diskussion in eine bestimmte Richtung gelenkt haben (von denen einer eine brennende Deutschlandflagge in seiner Signatur hat, was natürlich überhaupt kein Vorurteil gegenüber Menschen einer bestimmten Nationalität oder gewissen Instanzen transportiert /s). Es ist nicht überraschend, dass die Abstimmung so ausgegangen ist.
