The tories managed to raise the percentage of immigrant’s being illegal… By making it harder to enter the country legally.

      doesn’t make sense

I was surprised that two thirds of folk here think to be fair.

I gave up thinking years ago. I got bored of the smell of burning.

Why are we using a picture of illegal immigrants on small boats as a picture to represent a general story on immigration? This is extremely dishonest

It should rise I always find it unbelievable how “anti-immigration” and “population decline” people overlap.

@theuniqueone @okwithmydecay I don’t. The unspoken bit is always race. “I’m anti [brown] immigration and I’m worried about [white] population decline” are not incompatible.

Probably difference between the rate of immigration vs number of immigrants. Number of them is still rising.

When you’re being smacked over the head with everything that’s wrong in your life is because of immigrants, it starts to set in.

    Happened in America

    a post-pandemic low

It’s peak guardian to ignore that it’s still higher than pre-pandemic, and not have a graph in the article. Then have a classic “the poors are dumb” headline https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/bulletins/longterminternationalmigrationprovisional/yearendingjune2025

It has more upvotes than down, so it’s an improvement over Reddit I suppose…

More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
