Real life LLMs have shown me the potential for the world to be just as miserable and dystopia as in a lot of sci-fi but also if this is where we are now, then maybe most sci-fi doesn’t take it far enough. People will stop thinking for themselves and rely on AI for everything and blindly believe what it tells them.

This doesn’t really answer the question but I was reading Asimov short story the other day “Belief” and it felt like he’d hit the nail on the head such a long time ago.

I was referred to a physio who gave me an exercise plan to do and then discharged me…

Didn’t look after my posture, now my neck is fucked and it causes pain all down my arm and my finger is numb…
I can never not read POS as Piece of Shit
I think it is often used as a card handler and less as a way that people pay (as we used to, by connecting it to a bank account or having a balance)

Moved house two months ago and still got lots of boxes in the loft. Finally got some recording equipment out and helped my partner record a song.

Literally everything. Leaving supermarket with a basket full of food and you’ve spent £80. Co-op’s oat milk was 85p when I started buying it, now it’s £1.60

After I wrote that post that is exactly what I thought! What colour do you like? Colour for what?? A room, hair, a vase, etc etc??
I have definitely had multiple experiences in my adult life where people expected me to be excited and we’re disappointed by my reaction, I think I am very happy but not visibly excited even if I am inside.

A printer or printer firmware. There was a discussion about this elsewhere on lemmy, of course this would be difficult and expensive but it would be very cool

That’s quite surprising, the stable builds were always very stable for me. I used to DJ several times a month in public for 4-6 hours at a time and only had a problem when I tried to run beta builds, which was admittedly a stupid idea.

It’s really surprising this doesn’t already exist. It’s such a hated piece of tech, I would have thought someome would have thought they could do better! I don’t know enough to do it myself but I’d sure as hell support a project to do it!
It might be the right moral decision but was it done for the right reason? The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the timing of this straight after the Donald Trump state visit to the UK cannot be coincidental, Trump must have Okayed this and there must be a bigger plan. Maybe. Ha.
