In a broad sense, yes this is same shit different day, but it’s unique in that the Imperial Boomerang is coming back around and impacting your average gringo lib.
You shouldn’t. The person your thanking is promoting bigoted Pseudoscience
Eat shit, get your pseudo-scientific nonsense out of here

Idk they get awfully close sometimes with the “tankie triad” conspiracies.
Blocklist related drama has made Mastadon a headache at times. I’d rather that not be brought here.
People should curate their own block lists, based on their own needs. Not mindlessly copying others’

There’s a Firefox extension called Livemarks that restores Firefox’s old RSS features. I started using it recently and I’m super happy with it!

Back before I had a YouTube account, and before Firefox nuked its RSS features, I used to just have all the RSS feeds of channels I wanted to keep up with, in a folder on my bookmarks toolbar.
Glad I could return to that

Again, making a website might be a tad difficult. But getting on Gemini, and being able to post to a bbs board takes mere minutes
So this is why Gezebelle Gaburgably likes snails so much

There actually are a couple of search engines available on Gemini. If you install the Lagrange Browser, for Gemini, there should be a few listed on the “getting started” page

It used to be that you’d go to a website, and Firefox would have an RSS icon in the address bar, if one was available, that you could click, and it would let you copy the feed and put it in a separate rss reader, or you could subscribe in your browser, and save the feed as a bookmark.
This latter method was how I followed blogs, podcasts, and even Youtube channels, for years.

I use Lagrange and it works like a dream

I mean, to make a website, that’s probably true. But accessing the Gemini protocol is as simple as installing a web browser

what is the benefit of this compared to HTTP though?
For me, it’s kind of the novelty of it. Gemini is separated from the mainstream internet, there’s a mild barrier to entry, so it has a distinct culture and vibe to it

Oasis always sounded like they were imitating the concept of emotion, in their music, rather than actually expressing any. I don’t believe Liam and Noel Gallagher have ever felt any emotions beyond disdain for one another
I suppose what I’m getting at is, do you have any specific recommendations?
The big problem for a lot of people is actually finding those cool little niches to hang out in
FTFY
For a lot of young people, the cultural norm is that any kind of sincerity is cringe.
I was talking about this with a friend recently, but is there any culture for 13 year olds anymore? What music do they listen to? Because when I was a teenager, a mere decade ago, there was still a distinct youth subculture that I just don’t think exists anymore.
None of this is to shake my fist at a cloud and say things were better back in my day. But I do think that Covid, the proliferation of algorithmic social media, and the death of third places, have all contributed to a generation of kids who think going outside and having a nice time is insufferably cringe, when they should be going to an all ages punk show, wearing stupid clothes, and having experiences
