Ooh this is a cool idea. And I wouldn’t worry about the evilness of the act since Lawful Evil is a Lawful alignment
@INeedMana
I just noticed Piefed’s hastags aren’t visible over here on Mastodon. Odd.
@thelsim
Great idea. I will look into the game, too.
In my setting magic is superscience left over from the first age. Could be nanites in everything, could be something weirder. The players casting spells is similar to if your dog figured out how to say “Alexa, all lights on” and realized saying those magic words created light.
Also, the aliens are going to be demons, sort of, being the children of the Fear of the Other and the Fear of the Incomprehensible. Not that the aliens or PCs would know this. So magic will work fine.
You actually gave me a different great idea. In my setting, we have all the normal fantasy stuff, but the elves are robots who often modify their bodies to do stuff like have plasma cannons hidden in their arms or directly interface with the GPS satellites. I think something like the Borg would be a great way to handle half-elves.

Minor correction: the word for this is paramagnetic. Paramagnetism happens when a molecule has unpaired electrons, whereas diamagnetism happens when a molecule has no unpaired electrons. You’re pretty much entirely right, though

Feel like this is the edgy relative of the classic Cleric Inquisitor archetype who uses Healing Word and Revivify for enhanced interrogation of “sinners”.

Alfies’s curse is a sign that she’s the reincarnation of Cadmus Blair (think Salazar Slytherin). Considering that Alfie’s draconic greed is well-established far before she starts turning into a dragon, I think these traits would have to be encouraged by her family. It’ll be a point of tension with Terry, since his sister is spending a lot of time with a family that loudly hates that their daughter is required to take useless classes like Reading, History, and Natural Philosophy ☹️
@SteposVenzny Good point on Minty sounding exactly like Minthe. I might give her a nickname like “Slugger” or “Knucksie” instead, since she’s got anger issues and is gonna kill her best friend someday.
@pteryx recommended Justinian as a replacement for Harrison. Maybe Jeffery could work? Earlier last names for him that I threw out included Gwion-Bach, Taliesin, and Pittacus. Thought those all were too on-the-nose. I’m also fairly certain I read a book recently with a protag named Taliesin?🤷♂️

I mean, usually my #dnd players strongly dislike tracking encumbrance, so the coins might as well be weightless.
Something I think people tend to forget about is the practice of “free lunch”. Sit yourself down at the bar, order a drink, and you get access to a whole lunch menu as long as you keep drinking. It particularly makes sense if a pint of beer &/or a single lunch actually costs slightly less than a cp, so two beers would cover the cost.
But it’s coins made of solid gold/silver/copper that players find in dungeons, bring back to town, and immediately spend. People bring their irl money intuition to the table when they need to pull prices out of their ass which results in tavern food costing, like, 10 gold coins per plate. Realistically, given the prices of the materials in the specie coins, I think players paying for stuff in gp should be treated like some rich fuck paying for fast food with Benjamins.
@calamitycastle The harder one is basically Doc Ock as a sith lord. Imagine: Soresu with 6 lightsabers.
The easier one is similar in spirit: mad scientist lawyer. Gold breastplate under a pinstripe suit. Sunglasses with scanning equipment. Lots of little details like that.
