Comes off as some weird AI and revenue spokesperson when we aren’t here to discuss which stocks to invest in.
This is pcgaming not investing. The aspects you are talking about don’t matter to pc gamers who are only trying to get whatever parts they can for a bargain as opposed to concerns about return on investment.
Because people see that this isn’t about protecting kids, but about wanting to start requiring IDs for every aspect of the Internet that didn’t used to have it. So it doesn’t just stop at Roblox but getting to the point where even signing up on Lemmy might have ID requirements depending on the country.
The answer is better parental controls to lock down accounts and even get alerts and logs of what their kids are doing rather than this attempt to get IDs. Provide better easy to use parental tools. Not to mention, these verification companies have had links to places like Palantir.
The for the children argument is one to be skeptical of when it goes hand in hand with less privacy. I’d expect more awareness of this from people on lemmy than those on reddit.
I use lemmy not because of privacy since public forums aren’t private, but to move away from corporate social spaces profiting off their user base. And also getting back third party apps.
Lemmy feels more like old school Internet of people discussing and talking because they want to as opposed to the whole spaces end goal being to figure out how to IPO.
And using either of them doesn’t guarantee your data won’t get out anyways for products provided by corporations like the recent tiktok outcome showed where a billion dollar company would rather sell out than close down to protect users.
Nice. Lot of games I’ve played on RPCS3 have run flawless as long as the wiki shows playable.

I think social media for profit played a large role in getting a new generation of ad acceptance, since most use the official app with third party apps generally dead.
So they are going to get exposed to ads using it on their phones, and then there’s the users themselves seeing social as something to try to use to make money so you got human being like living ads too.
Its not restrictions that is the issue but the attempt to normalize handing out ID and face scans. It would have been more acceptable for them to flat out disallow restricted content than moving towards normalizing this type of entrustment of sensitive data.
Yeah, making something portable tends to cost more. If it wasn’t for tariffs and sudden ram price hike Steam Machine would have been priced cheap with the specs not being anything crazy over powered for a desktop PC.
If Valve had been able to move up their release by just a couple months they could have pushed out some reasonably priced Steam Machines out before ram prices went out of hand.
That couple months made a huge difference.
After feedback from our customer base we would like to state that we are still committed and will continue to stick with hiring human illustrators for artwork associated with the GOG brand, and put in safe guard to catch AI works that might accidentally enter the work flow.
Its not that difficult to communicate to the public. Pretty standard to clearly state how worries customers bring up will be solved if the intention is to not keep doing what customers are accusing them of intentionally doing.

I think lot of people are over their initial awe of generated content, and associate it with cheap and low quality these days.
I think best approach if you need to use privacy invasive apps like uber and so on is to have a degoogled personal phone, and second stock phone whether it is android or apple for all those other apps that don’t play well on custom roms.
Compartmentalizing is best that can be done if there isn’t much choice in not using certain apps, and cuts down on headaches of trying to get them working on custom roms. And that stock phone can just be a cheap crappy budget phone, since its main use will be to just launch those junk apps when needed.

Publishers don’t want to sell games cheaper. They want to price it higher. They only lower if less people are buying the game at a higher price and are forced to lower it. I don’t understand why some can’t see publishers are not altruistic and some how exempt from maximizing profits like other industries.
Ones that remained exclusive on their own launcher for a long time yet didn’t deviate from pricing the retail price of their games any lower despite paying 0% cut like EA and Ubisoft in the past is proof enough.
It’s as naive as when Microsoft tried to push an always online digital console and some believing it’d lead to lower game prices due to not having to account for physical costs of discs as though companies want to price games lower instead of higher.

Yeah, there’s enough enshitification already in the world with all sorts of monetization trying to turn everything into subscriptions.
If someone wants subscription revenue that much they should release their own game rather than turn mods into yet another subscription hell hole.

Makes sense. By the time a game shows up on a giveaway it has been out long enough that there’s lot of discounts for it. So small budget price that might be less than the price of buying lunch is worth it for some to not deal with Epic.
And the giveaway is good promotion, since even people like me who don’t have epic launcher installed will still be aware of it and claim it through a browser. Ends up being free marketing among those who subscribe to gamedeals type communities or visit sites like isthereanydeals. Gives games an opportunity to get a second wind.
