They server my domains and 100 other domains, one of the also act as a slave/secondary DNS server for others who wish to use it.
I am actually decomissioning the serverrack I have with my friends just because lack of time.
Used to run a lot of small things for the community, but like you - time and resources was lacking.
It is a giant MITM proxy, and whoever who has access to their logs have the potential to gain a lot of control
Afraid.org is great :) I do recommend
Since your name is Helig, I assume you are from the Nordics. Loopia has support for dynamic DNS.
All domains works with Dynamic IPs - it all depends on what DNS-provider you use :) Provider like Cloudflare ( I do not recommend Cloudflare) and afraid.org both offer dynamic DNS.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you believe Lemmy/Mastodon can become mainstream and fully replace their centralized counterparts?
2·3 years agoThere is always the censorship factor - it all depends on the team managing the instance you are on. Hopefully they manage it well - like most admins do.

4·3 years agoIntel NUC is probably the best choice - silent, possible to have two SSDs, pretty low powered.
Personally, I did settle with 13 Dell optiplexes 9020 SFF

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy faces the same expectations problems as every free/libre software
181·3 years agoWell thats true for all software - being free/libre or not. It just takes time to get used to it.
For example, when I get a new phone - I spend the next months complaining over how much better the previous one was, until I dont.
Indeed it is! I remember a big change in resource-use between 1.18 and 1.22. And it is even less now. My server has joined many big rooms and it is doing great on 1 core and 1gb ram (even thou I have allocated more to it).
How does Vikunja work btw?
Had to format my post, since the mobile client I posted it with did not apply the formatting that I did :)
I am currently running a minecraft<>matrix bridge and a telegram-bridge. I used to host those bridges for public use (3k+ users), but that was hard since it used up so much hardware. Now it is only for family and friends, and that is working so much better :)

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Do any of you bother writing abuse emails?English
7·3 years agoI did try to automate abuse emails via fail2ban, but that ended up getting my entire domain removed because it generated so many emails
