29·7 months agoTL;DR it’s a generic corporate statement about how much theyre committed to the game and how it’ll be great, etc.
Nothing of value.

Games@lemmy.world•In Canada, Nintendo is increasing the price of the original Nintendo Switch.English
6·7 months agoIf we’re going by piracy logic then you can buy a $200 used Switch and hack it to download games for free. I genuinely don’t think a phone or tablet would ever be a good experience. nobody is going to play with touch controls, it doesn’t let you play games on the TV, the emulator has compatibility issues and bugs, not to mention how most phones throttle hard when they get warm. I’m not buying this discussion at all.

201·7 months agoAndroid has Genshin Impact, GRID Autosport, Pascal’s Wager, Sky: Children of the Light, The Banner Saga Trilogy.
…So basically mediocre Android games and rare ports of older games. Nobody is buying a handheld console to play these.

113·7 months agoAndroid has a couple high-profile indie games like Stardew Valley and some rare ports of older games, that’s it. I wouldn’t call it very good. and unless you’re willing to shell out $150+ for a great telescopic controller there’s no way playing on the tablet would be comfortable.

138·7 months agoThere are Android tablets that are much cheaper than the Switch, more powerful, more battery efficient. Also, play games better.
You’re not really suggesting that playing mediocre android games on a touchscreen tablet is the same market as a handheld gaming device with controllers

Games@lemmy.world•Sony announces the PS5 Pro with a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI upscalingEnglish
5·1 year agoSadly not an option for console. I don’t own a PS5 currently but when I did own consoles I would trade games and buy used all the time, it’s a shame this might not be possible next generation.

35·1 year agoDarn, I posted this earlier but sadly lemm.ee is having server issues. This’ll be the main thread, then.
Official Blog Post | PS5 Pro Reveal Trailer
The PS5 Pro console will be available this holiday at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax). It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed in every PS5 Pro purchase. PS5 Pro is available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.
The big question mark for me is that not only does it cost 800 euros, it does NOT come with a disc drive. There is no version of it with a disc drive like the PS5, you have to buy it as an accessory. I guess physical games really are going away.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•When will they learn? When will they learn, that their actions have consequences?
301·1 year agoFor the record the devs said this game took eight years to make, and might’ve been pitched even earlier than that. I can’t imagine working on a project for a decade and releasing to… This.

Unless they rework half the game’s mechanics from the ground up, I doubt it.

9·2 years agoThis isn’t the first 3D game they made though. They made Solar Ash before this, and it’s honestly quite underrated.
Try removing all of them one-by-one and ignore the ones that are trying to remove plasma.
That entire sentence sounds like a title of a visual novel

7·2 years agoI actually had a similar experience with Hollow Knight where I had to stop playing for a while and when I picked it back up I forgot where I was and where I’m going, so I had to start all over. It was really worth it imo, because the end sections of the game are insanely cool. But I can understand not wanting to repeat ~10-20 hours again.

341·2 years agoNot surprising considering there’s little to no competition in that price range. Pretty much every not-bad PC headset is $1000+, and heavy hitters like Valve Index haven’t had a hardware refresh in years.
Whew, I was getting worried we were one day into 2024 and nobody said this yet.

It’s the right choice in my opinion. Rather than spend another few years working on the new engine and possibly going into development hell again, they’re going to move back to the old engine and release the game straight into early access to gain some momentum and progress
