Vegan@lemmy.ml•So Bad It’s Useful: RFK Jr.’s Dietary Guidelines Are a Historic Opportunity to Expose Big Meat and Dairy Lies
5·12 days agoThe guidelines put an emphasis on consuming dairy. What total industry shill bullshit. Cows milk is very good for baby cows. Humans, especially adult ones, not so much.
Depends on what you are into…
A sci fi notable is: THX-1138
Class analysis: The cook, the thief, his wife, and her lover
And if you haven’t seen it: Closet Land
What remains of the dying population of Cambodia? One large photograph of an American actress holding an Asian child in her arms. What remains of Tomas? An inscription reading: “He wanted the Kingdom of God on Earth.” What remains of Beethoven? A frown, an improbable mane, and a somber voice intoning “Es muss sein!” What remains of Franz? An inscription reading: “A return after long wanderings.” And so on and so forth. Before we are forgotten, we will be turned into kitsch. Kitsch is the stopover between being and oblivion.

The article is paywalled. I have some experience with dzogchen. It can be useful. That said, there’s not really any escaping practice. That’s kind of the whole point.
IMO, Buddhism isn’t something you believe, it is something you do. The realization comes with the doing of the practice, and there aren’t really any shortcuts.
I personally have gotten the most mileage out of zazen; with the exception of full-on retreats, but those aren’t really casual.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst crime/mischief your pet have done to you?
5·2 months agoPreface: I live in a rural area. Indoor outdoor cats. They will sleep in the bed sometimes. They also bring in snakes, sometimes. I have found snakes in the bed. And in my shoes.
But for the real mischief story, they also brought in a baby bunny. It was already dead, and not in the bed, thank goodness. They left it on the carpet in the bedroom. Problem is rabbits out here have fleas. Young ones are no exception. I spent 2 months getting rid of those stupid fleas. Powders, pet treatment, diatomaceous earth, the whole thing. Now I try to be a little more vigilant watching what they bring in the cat door.

Interesting ethereal track. Reminiscent of zoviet france or mouse on mars. That’s not a diss, the opposite.
Question: why the 666 price tag and giving codes, instead of releasing it for a pay what you want?
