Guess it depends on what it is, but 90day warranties are still a thing. Everything is just meant to be disposable now though so I guess the idea of refunds is an older person thing.

News@lemmy.world•California orders bottled water firm to stop drawing from natural springs
132·2 years agoGuess I’m just old but I still think it’s insane that anyone pays for water at all. I 40yrs people will think it’s nuts to get free breathable air.
They all originate from either a goth teenager or some 40yr old in his parents basement. Why give credit to a random posting platform?
I think at this point it’s just a huge fuck you we do what we want from M$. The combination of image handling in word and issues with images and formatting in PowerPoint not playing nicely between Mac and PC platforms are literally decades old now.
Also, why does publisher still exist? Just give me a publisher mode button in word where rulers show up and everything moves to default text box formatting and better imagine handling.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google sued for negligence after man drove off collapsed bridge while following map directionsEnglish
101·2 years agoSo we should all assume free services put us at risk of grossly negligent loss of life? It wasn’t just Google, the damn thing wasn’t even marked. Did you read the article? It doesn’t sound like this had much to do with a lack of common sense. There is a closed road by me that I have reported three times to Google maps over the past four years and it remains marked as open on maps - it is frustrating to have a reporting feature available and have these requests ignored / univestegated.

Memes@lemmy.ml•What’s the point of unpopular opinions if you can’t show them off
37·2 years agoDownvotes on Lemmy are just an indicator that you are unlikely to succeed as a socialist politician at the national level. Short of that, I would ignore their value.

Climate@slrpnk.net•AOC Says Climate Movement Must Become 'Too Big and Too Radical to Ignore'23·2 years agoAgree that humble beginnings stories probably make for better politicians (she’s far from the first though), but the drive to tolerate years of political bullshit is almost always a personal power quest and indoctrination into a corrupt system makes for corrupt individuals. The expectation from prior data would be for her to follow this route. I will disagree with you that she doesn’t care about power (and shit).

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Mullvad Annouce Removal Of All Disk Infrastructure - Now RAM Only
173·2 years agoThey dropped port forwarding and likely lost a lot of business related to this. They are trying to compensate for the loss I think which is great.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Mullvad Annouce Removal Of All Disk Infrastructure - Now RAM Only
17·2 years agoAgreed. Seems like they were in a super tough spot with that and kind of had to drop it. All the sudden they seem to be doing some new cool stuff to try to keep their edge which I really appreciate / respect. That being said, I’ve dumped them and switched to a service that still port forwards as it gives me better torrenting throughput. Sorry Mullvad.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Mullvad Annouce Removal Of All Disk Infrastructure - Now RAM Only
191·2 years agoYou are buying access to a VPN not a nuclear warhead for the black market. The link between buying a VPN card and the code used in that card to link to said vpn activity which is also pretty well protected on Mullvad is not easily discoverable. Seems like a pretty reasonable privacy gap to me.
