Ehh I disagree with using RDR2 as an example, but I think QTEs in general are probably my least favorite game mechanic. I actually quite like walking around in RDR2 during the missions. A huge aspect of the game is just immersing yourself in the map/world and listening to the NPCs. I can see it getting old during replays but for me it’s a hell of a lot better than watching a cutscene and being prompted to hit a button. I vividly remember fishing with Dutch and Josea for at least a half hour just listening to them chat with Arthur
anyone out there?

RDR2 has one of, if not my favorite, inventory systems. Your own ‘backpack’ that had a weight limit and could only carry smaller things. Big things you’d have to lug onto the back of your horse or find a cart. All of your equipped weapons are displayed on your person. If you want to swap weapons you have to run back to your horse and exchange weapons at your saddle bags
I don’t think enough people realize the demo is literally just the game’s prologue. It even says if you buy the game it will pick up where you left off in the demo
World of Warcraft, Undertale, Stardew Valley, Sonic Mania, Halo, Hollow Knight

Technology@kbin.social•Brain chips to be tested on humans this year, Elon Musk says
5·3 years agoHonestly I won’t get one but I’m fine for Elon to break into it. I kinda feel like that’s the only thing he does well. Funnels money into concepts people believe are impossible. Fail until there’s some small success and let other, more competent people learn from those failures. I think I’d rather have that than stay stagnant and/or have the Russian brain chip become the standard

OP is using a plugin from Decky. It’s still the Battle.net shortcut but you can modify the shortcut name and use the SteamGridDB plugin to grab the actual metadata and art for the game. Check out decky.xyz
I believe this is extremeRate’s full shell replacement. Actually pretty affordable, about $40 after tax. I’ve heard it takes 2-3 hours to do though. Personally I’d keep the black dpad and buttons
ProtonDB for Decky is a great tool to check how compatible a game is with Proton, even gives it a score
It’s a plugin for Decky which is a free 3rd party plugin manager. Goto decky.xyz from your deck and download file, make sure to run it from your desktop. Then go back to game mode and hit the “…” button to access it
This plugin is HLTB for Deck. They’re also using SteamGridDB to get the custom D4 art and the game’s metadata. Game Theme Music, vibrantDeck, and ProtonDB are all musts as well
I’d definitely pick it up during the Summer Sale. With the DLC coming out soon and rumors of it being a soft relaunch of a lot of stuff, it’s likely they’ll keep it out of deep sales for a while
Tears of the Kingdom without a doubt so far. Enjoyed every second of it.
Honorable mentions are Hi-Fi Rush, RE4 Remake, Diablo 4 - even Jedi Survivor (especially if it didn’t run like shit).
And I fully expect Starfield, Spiderman 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3 to give TOTK a run for its money. Honestly a great year for gaming despite some shitty PC ports.
I just gave Cassette Beasts a shot and was instantly hooked. Fun PokeClone that is one of the best I’ve played and gets some stuff better than even Pokemon does. Also on gamepass if you’ve got that

Agreed! Totally think this is a learning experience for both sides
An…earnest mistake?
I’m sorry
I always feel like these posts come from people who’ve only ever lived in a city. I’d love to catch a bus sometimes but I’d have to bike an hour to the nearest stop and even then it likely won’t stop where I need to go. In some parts of the US at least, it’s literally impossible to only use public transportation. So you buy a car and if you move somewhere with good public transportation…you’ve already got a car and are used to the freedom anyway
Also the US is very large geographically so if you have to travel often it makes far more financial sense (not to mention saves a lot of time) to get a car
I think the 2 day protest was so a lot more subreddits would be willing to participate, and was ultimately used to spread awareness throughout the userbase (and get some traction in the news cycle). I don’t think anyone leading the charge was expecting spez or reddit as a whole to cave and revert everything within those 2 days, but you’d be surprised how easily users can ignore that stuff unless it’s shoved right in their face
Ultimately despite reddit still being a shithole, I think it was pretty effective. Not sure it could be called “rexxit”, but the fediverse is far more populated (and a bit more mainstream) now, as people start realizing there is a way for the community to hold some power and not constantly be at the mercy of bad management or greed
Right, I wasn’t saying it shouldn’t have been a public post. Just that the public post shouldn’t have immediately jumped to accusations. FOSS or not, accusing someone of stealing code and intentionally trying to obfuscate its origin to pass it off as their own is a big deal for a developer. One that can destroy your reputation
A simple “I’ve noticed snippets in here of my work that falls under a license which is not attributed at all. Could you add the proper attributions or remove it from your project?” says the same thing and doesn’t jump to any accusations that you have no idea if are true or not

I’ll be one of the “horde” (albeit more tame) but personally I don’t think developers should make their games easier or change their vision in order to broaden its audience. It kinda reminds me of the “rated R” debate. Certain people want movies like Oppenheimer to be rated PG-13 over being rated R so it can reach a bigger audience. But I don’t think Nolan should be changing his vision of the movie just so it sells better
