United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Perfect pets or dangerous dogs? The sudden, surprising rise of American bully XLsEnglish
7·2 years agoI love dogs of all breeds and sizes and I’m sure most of the time these are fine to be around. But this breed literally only exists to circumvent the exists banned breeds laws so I don’t understand why the list can’t be updated to include them.
Ok strange, looks to be a kbin problem. I don’t see it on any Lemmy instance but on your instance I see that and on kbin.social I get another weird banner (not nsfw at least)
Wtf it’s not for me (I haven’t actually even set a banner).
Mind sharing a screenshot?

UK Politics@feddit.uk•State pensions to cost more than education, policing and defence combinedEnglish
111·2 years agoThat’s because you’re technically not paying for your own pension. You pay for the current pension then the next generation will pay for yours.
Whole thing needs an overhaul but I wouldn’t trust any of them to do it correctly

UK Politics@feddit.uk•State pensions to cost more than education, policing and defence combinedEnglish
131·2 years agoTriple lock and more pensioners than ever.
I look forward to not getting back anything that I pay in while the current people on state pension benefit way more than they contributed

Coffee - All Things Coffee@feddit.uk•looking for recommendations: scoopsEnglish
1·2 years agoI use my aeropress scoop for this for whatever brew method I decide to use that day.
No idea if you can buy just the scoop but I’m a fan of it. However, I’m pretty sure a lot of people hate that scoop.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•When you notice Lemmy is quieter than usual, then have a look at the Lemmy.world statusEnglish
492·2 years agoIt was always going to happen but an instance being the defacto default for Lemmy is a bad thing.
There really needs to be a tool to help people pick an instance, but even then people would just flock to the general instances like .world anyway

UK Politics@feddit.uk•Chris Mason: Tory gloom ahead of triple by-election testEnglish
2·3 years agoI still have a gut feeling they’ll claw back support by the time of a GE
This needs updating, there’s a shift to weighing people in kilograms now. Thank god

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Alan Davies twitter account is being used to beg for bitcoin.English
4·3 years agoNope but the general use is going to be overwhelmed by the idea of instances.
I’m a techie and I had to spend a good amount of time reading about how it all works before I felt comfortable joining here. So the average user would probably just give up and use something else.
The email comparison is definitely the best one I’ve seen so far but I still don’t think it’ll stick with people.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•is there a way to see the front page or list of communities of an instance without getting out of the instance you're currently in ?English
6·3 years agoThere’s https://lemmyverse.net/communities which will show you all the communities that exist. You can filter by instance as well.
It’s a separate site though.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Online Safety Bill: Algorithms that lead boys to Andrew Tate content targetedEnglish
22·3 years agoIt’s not even just boys I have old school friends, now in late 20s, who were completely decent young lads sharing his stuff.
Unfortunately I don’t think Tate is the cause, just a symptom. We need to tackle the lack of healthy male empowerment because boys need role models and right now these kind of guys are the ones filling that void.

Feddit UK@feddit.uk•What's the best way to spread the word about Feddit.uk and get more people involved with the instance?English
3·3 years agoIt’s a great idea having the UK based communities on this instance. But if people on other instances don’t subscribe then other users on that instance won’t be able to find the communities here in their search bar.
I do worry the large instances will end up being where all the communities are and people will just have accounts on the smaller ones
Car has been bad but he’s still not really shown much and it’s not like he’s a young rookie either. So kind of understandable.
Was never a fan but a shame he didn’t get a chance to finish his rookie season.

I bought new ice cube moulds for iced coffee at the beginning to the summer.
They have not been used yet. Weather has been miserable (I missed the one week of heat whilst abroad)
