Instead of having job security and working with a few H1B visa holders, now my entire division is apparently being moved to Bangalore. I definitely feel like I’m winning now.

24TB Seagate drives are on sale for 249 right now, actually a good time to stock up
Mine was a $500 fee each for 2 cats, plus $25/ea per month. $3,400 over my stay there, and do you think I got my $400 security deposit back? Lol
My hosting costs are ~$500 a month. I get about $118 a month from Patreon subs. I also get $200 a month from a single advertiser. Still need to pay ~$200 a month out of pocket.
Ads suck, sure, but shit’s expensive for hobbyists.
I’ve made some DIY smart home devices with some ESP32s, I know how much premade stuff can be overpriced for sure. I still want to make a TOF sensor for my water filter salt tank
We’ve gotten too used to the price of tech being so low because we’re almost always the product. The Meta VR headsets, Alexa, Google Home, anything where data from us can be harvested, they’ll gladly subsidize to help get it into our homes.
I’m really hoping the HA voice stuff keeps getting better and better, we need it if we’re ever going to get people away from these data harvesting “assistants”

I will not be purchasing it, however.
I’ve had good luck with giving people a comparison to Jesus working.
Let’s say Jesus worked as a carpenter from the day of his birth to today, making $50 an hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (he’s a hard working dude!), that’s 17,739,264 hours of labor. Surely he must have billions of dollars working that hard for that much money over the last 2,024 years.
Not even $887 million. Still far short of a single billion. I guarantee 99.9% of people don’t make $50/hr, and absolutely nobody works 24/7/365 for thousands of years, and if that alone doesn’t tell you that billionaires shouldn’t exist, nothing will.
