For most things I default towards free and open source software. If that doesn’t work, then I will look for a proprietary solution. There’s only a few areas where this is relevant.

I use Chrome browser for work. I have Steam, which is fantastic but is absolutely proprietary. Not much outside of that.

I bought and wrapped presents that I’d forgotten what they were. Christmas was a wild one this year for me.

It is a Minecraft clone, but it does a lot more. People are building new games with the same engine. It’s called a voxel engine, because that the type of 3D that was popularized by minecraft.

I use the Heroic launcher with GOG and it works fantastic. Official apps are less needed if the open source ones are great.

An overly compressed 4k stream will look far worse than a good quality 1080p. We keep upping the resolution without getting newer codecs and not adjusting the bitrate.
