That actually sounds like a good implementation. What are technical aspects of using websockets in the background? Or is it just due to battery?
Not the biggest deal-breaker, so polled is good enough for me since it is a low priority channel for me anyways.

1·3 years agoOh yeah totally agree with you. Got a Google Coral stick the other day after waiting for OK prices and it’s a really nice game changer if you have cameras around the house. Managed to get notifications when my cats are nearby, all through Home Assistant.

141·3 years agoWhat happens if lemmy.world or any other instance goes down without notice? Then there’d be a void of communities for a while right, or do other instances keep backups of some sort? Thinking about this now that .world gets tons of attention.

Interesting, curious of how durable it’d be? Sounds like a simple setup to mass produce without skyrocketing production costs.
