Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•It helps to set your preferred age range from 18-120 for full coverage
311·2 years agoI’m in my mid 30s, having women tell me of the psychological fights that NO ONE TOLD ME WERE EVEN HAPPENING, AND NO-ONE GOT ME.
Anyway, I now have a great love life. So long as you’re not dead, there’s always time for it to sort itself out. Be patient and focus on yourself.
Sarazil@kbin.socialtoAnti-Corporate Movement@lemmy.giftedmc.com•Maybe consider matrix instead
2·2 years agoYes, but it need a little bit of work. https://github.com/element-hq/element-desktop/issues/853
Short of wearing a white fleece with bright pink hearts on it, nothing.
Because your face isn’t threatening.
The people being threatened by you, are being threatened by their racism, and that’s not your fault.
Keep living your best life, and keep proving them wrong. They’ll figure it out eventually, one by one.
There’s a 9 mil pistol at the end of what looks like the barrel. The whole thing is an ammo loading mechanism, to rapid fire a metric ton of lead straight up into the air, causing a hail of tiny bullets. Simple area denial system, but the 9 mil calibre fits the original poster’s ex’s metaphorical member size, and the amount of shrapnel she just dodged is also on-point.
The gun, intimidating though it seems, would be stopped by holding a large wok over your head.
So for spot the difference images, I cross my eyes. The differences jump out.
HOWEVER
In this one, and I know it’s two different images, but when I tried the same trick, the image became accurately 3D. Some fuzziness, of course, but there were proper layers to the resulting depth.
I’m very curious as to the implications of how this A.I. may have been trained…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does a SO feel different from a very good friend?
30·2 years agoAn SO will align their goals with you. A best friend may find another goal in life and go off on their own. A friend isn’t tied to you, and you’d support them if they ‘leave’ you to seek their own fortune. A partner stays with you and you and they need to find ways to reach your goals together. There’s a stability and security to a partner that you don’t get, no matter how close your friend is.
One option I’m using, change the url from youtube to nsfwyoutube. It’s a simple website, but works a treat.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does it matter if I skip sponsored ad segments in YouTube videos?
1·2 years agoThey don’t, they see how many people use the special link (Join now at www.superaids.com/yewtewber for 10% off your first order!) and if they find that fewer people are responding to the ads, the ads are simply worth less. If you skip ads without thinking, or worse with a plugin, then you won’t ever see the ads that might actually interest you, and the use of those links will decrease.
It’s part of my identity. At one point I flipped it, and now a whole load of people in real life call me Liz.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does it matter if I skip sponsored ad segments in YouTube videos?
331·2 years agoImmediately, no. The advert payments don’t pay attention to you skipping the advert.
Over time, as people skip the ads, the value that advertisers put on the ads will diminish, as they realise that people won’t see them.
The best solution would be to make the advert relevant to the video, or making them actually interesting (Like TomSka’s over the top SurfShark ads), but that’s me overthinking things again.
The ability for a brain to continue to focus on one concept without getting distracted.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you do if Capitalism didn't curb your potential and force you to sell most of your time?
1·2 years agoIt’s clear you don’t understand my business. A kebab house does not hire a full time IT guy, they hire someone like me when needed. Similarly, they don’t hire a full-time plumber for their toilets, a full-time builder to repair broken tiles, or a full time electrician to repair their electronics.
As for unionising, I’d support such businesses unionising, and would not help management stop them, even if they are my clients.
Some perspective for you, because you’re looking for an enemy here: Just because I got sick of working under middle management doesn’t mean I don’t need to be able to afford food and rent. Under the current state of affairs, you have to work for someone, or you have to work for yourself. The only alternative is social support systems which differ nation to nation. If looking at the big CEOs, yeah, you’re looking at arsewipes. No way they got there without stepping on people. But the farther down you go, the more normal people you meet. Owning or running a business is not the same as taking advantage of people, and being self-employed is not the same as union busting.
I am not your enemy here, but I’m also not going to respond to you anymore. I wish you well, but this is not worth my time.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you do if Capitalism didn't curb your potential and force you to sell most of your time?
2·2 years agoI don’t work for big companies, I support small businesses where a full-time IT guy doesn’t make sense, and old people who are struggling to get their internet working because their internet explorer icon disappeared. Additionally, if I was contacted by a company to cover them whilst their employees are striking, I’d turn them down.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you do if Capitalism didn't curb your potential and force you to sell most of your time?
26·2 years agoI run a goth night once every other month.
I visit friends quite often whenever I want to.
I get up and start my day when I feel like it.
I play with code and build web toys.
I’m a freelance IT guy. I could, if I wanted to, earn a lot more than I do, but my time is worth more than money. It is possible to do, even in this world where everyone is told that you need a ‘career’ and to work for a company, although a lot more work is needed to freeing other careers from the obligation of the grind.
Don’t give up hope, unionise, demand respect, buy a guillotine, and keep an eye out for a way to get what you need and to contribute to society or your community without signing your life away.(Yes, some people will never get the opportunity. And that, frankly, pisses me off no end. But don’t lose hope until you’re dead.)

Technology@lemmy.world•Judge denies HP's plea to throw out all-in-one printer lockdown lawsuit
19·3 years agoThey sell the printers at a loss because they then sell the ink cartridges with so little ink in them that some of the padding is still dry.

AssholeDesign@lemmy.world•Oil draining over the hot exhaust? Sounds good guys, let's sign it off and start production!
2·3 years agoLooks like the same model I have, a Svartpilen 401.
For my webserver, mysqldump to a secured folder, then restic backup the whole /svr folder, then rsync the restic backup to another server. Also have a system that emails me if these things don’t happen daily. The log files are uploaded to a url, the log file is checked for simple errors, and if no file is uploaded in time, email.
Of course, in my case, the url files are uploaded to - and the email server… are the same server I’m backing up… but at least if that becomes a problem, I probably only need the backups I’ve already made to my second server.
