Could you go to lemmyfi.com from your browser and tell me if it works for you?
I tried it but it didn’t work for me. I’m the instance admin btw. This is on my own instance.
they might be. but they won’t be able to log in to break stuff.
There was a spam sign up attack recently.

1·3 years agoHow would it benefit an instance to be on the top of the leaderboard. Having more people on your instance means higher server costs. The optimal situation is to have a small group of people on each instance but just more instances.
That explains why it’s struggling to federate

0·3 years agothis happened overnight for me. I turned on captcha and email verification. captcha is important. I was watching the logs and all activity stopped after captcha got enabled.

2·3 years agoMy modlog got spammed today by some script banning a lot of people for spam automatically. It’s getting wild. This was inevitable with the growth of Lemmy as a platform though.

2·3 years agoJust keep an eye on the GitHub page if you want to stay updated at all times. Other than that just check up on your storage use from time to time. You can also set up a job to restart the server every once in a while but that’s not really necessary.

2·3 years agoThis applies to any website. by visiting the website you give them your IP. the only way to mitigate this is to use a VPN.

I quit so hard that I even started my own instance. I love this federation concept.
Very nice! I’ve only got one and I need a more sturdy table since it gets rattled apart by the printer.
