In a post highlighting how this isn’t some recent Trump phenomena and there’s been problems this whole time, I see no reason to bring up Kent State and compare it to Trump now unless you think Trump also did Kent State. That’s another example against this being a Trump only issue and not something that’s a long part of US history.

THEY AREN’T making a sweeping generalisation of all white people - they ARE pointing out systemic racism. The only people who get triggered by these things are racists. You’re a fucking racist. You saw a post being critical of the response white people are having and got offended because it couldn’t possibly be that systemic racism exists, surely they must be calling out all white people or something.

You’re continuing to ignore the fact that it was already a large issue that people were upset about even before white people were brutalized and murdered on camera. People are upset about children being put in cages and separated from their parents. And people were already pointing out how we would all be at brunch right now if Kamala Harris (coincidentally, a woman of color and daughter of immigrants) had been elected.

I’m not denying there weren’t people who recognised there was a problem. But there are a lot who didn’t and only started paying attention when it affected them. That’s a problem because if you only take issue with these things because it affects you, then you’ll only advocate for solutions that protect yourself rather then the rotten system as a whole. That’s how you wind up with people saying “if only ICE were given more training” or “Trump should’ve gone through the senate before invading Venezeula” or “If Kamala had won we’d all be at brunch right now”.

But they should have been upset sooner. It’s great that they’re upset now but if they don’t realise they should’ve been upset sooner then their anger will be misdirected at the actual cause of the issue.

And it’s not a sweeping generalisation at every white person. Pointing out systemic racism isn’t racism. If you get offended by that then really you’re telling on yourself.

Why does it need to be a white person clearly being murdered on camera for it to become a large issue? Non-white people are constantly getting brutalised by the police. Kids are constantly being put in cages and being separated from their parents. And then a white person dies and everyone’s like “If Kamala was in charge we’d all be at brunch right now”.

There is absolutely a racial component going on here and if you interpret highlighting racism as racism then that’s on you.

They’re not implying all white people are racist or that noone ever cared until white people did die.

But there is a racial component that led lots of people to ignore the issue and only start caring the way we’re seeing now, now that white people have died. And for far too many of those peope, they still think this is a recent phenomena and not inherent to the system, and that means their anger is misplaced at how the system is being used and not against the system itself.

I went over to r/comics to see your comic over there and saw a 20k upvoted comic saying those who didn’t vote for Kamala are responsible for Alex Prettis death. There’s a comment on it by the r/comics modteam saying that if you didn’t vote for Kamala because of nonsense reasons like “genocide” (with the quotes) you’re responsible for Trump.
