Because, PDF is a container, like a fancy zip, the pictures saved in are kept in their original format, (JPEG, PNG/APNG, AVIF, GIF, JP2k, JPXL, BMP…) unless you add a step to re-compress the all document with image.
It’s always slightly bigger than the original file.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gaming on Arm chips didn't happen in 2025, but an epic battle with x86 CPUs is comingEnglish
3·22 days agoThe epic battle will be X86&ARM vs Risc-V, cause fully developed, RISC-V can power mobile, desktop and specialised device, thanks to the modular design. The only draw back is the too little community and corporation efforts to do the complex development, so no battle before a long time
Maybe accepted but still inaccurate, it’s a simulation, not a proper artificial network, which, by definition, would be a proper “hardware”.
And for the “artificial” term, I don’t know, everything humanity does is artificial, so it’s a bit superfluous.
It’s not AI, it’s neural network simulation, nothing fancy, just chain of ponderated nods
So from now
AI→ NS

- Keeping lot of ISO is a bit useless just the few that you use daily.
- If you’re keeping this ISO anyway, get them by torrent and keep sharing for helping the community

2·5 months agoMy only question was does it support Matter, and apparently as it’s follow the requirements of Home assistants it may.
It’s important cause the protocol is free to use and allows a full variety of devices and services. Say good bye to ChromeCast and AirPlay and the 20th century, say hello to the 21st where manufacturers have two goal compatibility and quality.

Do you invade your banished island ? Ask in history who where send to colonise this lands ?
USA need his own popular revolution, until then, they will be killed by a system they are proud and happy to give their lives for. If you never fought for your rights, you can’t understand how precious they are.
Apparently nowadays, many countries are making kings and queens, to lazy to take care of the system which is taking shape. And at the very end, everyone will lose.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Deleting Windows from dual boot Linux/Windows computer
1·6 months agoHi, I didn’t see the answer if you only have your pc and no other big storage :
If you still have the installation usb or recreate one. Boot on it then you opengpartedwith that you remove the two partition off windows, the main with the system and the recovery one (if there is) but don’t touch the first or last partitionespif it exits. Then you can expand the partitions to get the free space. Extend to the right is fast but extend to the left can be really slow and prone to failures.
I case you Linux partition are all on the right you can also create new main partition, do the install of the linux on this one, then reboot on the USB, move the user and configuration files on the new system, delete old installation partitions, then extend the new install to take the full drive.
There is commands to remove the oldespentries I don’t remember yet.
This can take few hours so be patient. The other option with a backup (
dd) of the main partition is obviously safer but take nearly the same amount of time and need an external drive.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•What starts with W and ends with T?
8·8 months agoThis joke is not feasible in French.
The word to translate “what” in a sentence is “quoi”, but for this question we’ll use the contraction “que + est + ce” (that + is + it) -> “Qu’est-ce qui commence par un W et termine par un T ?”.
So we may say Q and E but caused by the contraction of the 2 E it doesn’t end with a E in this sentence anymore.
Another way to say it, more literarily “Quel mot commence…” (what word starts…) but it breaks the affirmative way of reading.
To approach the English way : “Quoi commence par un Q et termine par un I.”. Some child would fall into the question trap but no adult due to the fact that it’s not a proper interrogative word, the questions you can do with “quoi” are : “quoi?” (what?), “De quoi tu parles ?” (what are you talking about?) and "À quoi tu penses ? " (What are you thinking about?).

In French, I like to call it “Microchiote”, cause “chiote” is a familiar name for toilet.
And for “Windaube” cause “daube” mean (Slang) Something of poor quality.
