It’s legal to have ZERO days off a year?! This feels like a human rights violation somehow

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•The Invention of Anarchism - Existential Comics
2·5 days agoOk interesting, thanks for the answer. I’m also curious what exactly “community” envisions? Does it just refer to existing towns/cities/city divisions? Or would it be necessary for the existing areas to be “broken up” into smaller, closer communities? My thinking is that in large cities there are often a huge number of people, and yet very little sense of community between them, so I am doubtful how well a community driven system could scale?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•We all took foreign languages in school and none of us can actually speak those languages
2·7 days agoI used to agree with you, then I came to Europe where everyone can speak at least two languages. So they must be doing something right in schools here
The entire point is that he was a human. Believing that he wasn’t a human would invalidate basically the entire premise of Christianity.
A bit unscientific. As a control we should additionally launch him into another star to make sure our sun isn’t biased
I think it’s the way the panels are labelled. I think if it read just “Before” and “Now”, or something like that, it would clearly be about personal experience, funny, maybe relatable.
But with “Shopping as a man/woman” it can interpreted as either personal experience of both sides OR broad sweeping generalisations of what men/women must all experience when shopping. And that second version is the boomer rehash.

I believe the “competition” in the original context is Advent of Code, not the job market. As you can see most of those people already have good jobs, why would they need to compete with the likes of you?

World News@quokk.au•41 young males die in South Africa after circumcision initiation ceremonies
13·18 days agoThe motive might be to prevent harm, but motive does not justify actions. Parents literally used to beat children, to make them more obedient and thereby “protecting” them. Some parents today will prevent their child being vaccinated from life threatening diseases, because in their culture vaccines are seen as bad, and their warped view of medicine makes them think they are protecting their children.
Motive is not justification.
