Look, I’m not an apple fanboy by any means. I kinda hate their UX. So I’m not defending Apple by putting my suggestions here. I’d prefer a Linux desktop 100% obviously, but most jobs (in my experience) do not offer that unless you work for a company with a dedicated IT department.

First of all, I can cmd+tab to different apps/programs just fine. So I don’t know what feature your missing that you need additional software.

Second of all, you can use ctrl+arrowkeys to cycle between desktops without a touch pad.

Third, I use an Mx Master mouse with gestures mapped to the Gesture button on the mouse. I hold the button and move my mouse left and right, which switches desktops.

Honestly, I prefer virtual desktops to alt tabbing 100%. When I’m developing a web app, for instance, I have a browser desktop in between a front end code desktop and a backend code desktop. Viewing my changes is just holding down a mouse button and a quick flick of my wrist. Its consistent and quick.

I just put each different program on a different virtual desktop and swipe through them.

I don’t find this convincing. Have you asked the Waymo Taxi the same thing? I can check if I’ve run over a cat, and I’m naturally Inclined to care. I can’t say the same about a robot. Especially one that isn’t open source.

If they can avoid animals now (which they can, and do), they can improve that detection and/or logic for cats that have disappeared under the car and not reappeared. That’s not even an assumption, much less a “big” one.

Yes I am biased against driverless cars. They are a new technology that is being tested without our consent, and they are dependent on corporations rather than humans being held accountable when things go wrong (something that we currently struggle with as a society). The fact that you think I should default to the contrary is strange to me.

No one argues self-driving cars are “needed.” The point is, they are a significant improvement over humans when developed correctly.

I’d rather gravitate towards a driverless society where we invest in public transit and infrastructure rather than further ingraining cars into our society and adopting private companies (who use us as unwitting beta testers) as the solution to our problems.

I think the person you’re replying to might be trying to make the distinction between how Americans perceive voter fraud versus how they perceive election fraud.

Americans will see one case of voter fraud and believe that it’s widespread. Whereas, most Americans will call you a conspiracy theorist if you suggest that an election result was altered systemically (election fraud).
