Uplifting News@lemmy.world•UN assembly votes overwhelmingly to back two-state solution to Israel-Palestinian conflictEnglish
6·4 months agoHe was removed in 2022 and barely got back in the last election (Current gov was elected with 49.5% of the voters). Plus for the last 2 years, the polls show the gov parties don’t have nearly enough support to get reelected.
Problem is there’s a high chance they’ll interfere with the elections. And this will have to come with some measures or support for deradicalized education and support for joint Palestinian-Israeli organizations that bring people together like Standing Together, Combatants for Peace, etc.

World News@lemmy.world•Man in Florida 'shoots two Israelis he thought were Palestinian'English
41·1 year agoWhat you originally wrote doesn’t imply only leaders.
The current leaders of Zionist parties that are part of the government are, Netanyahu, Smotrich, Ben Gvir and Arie Deri. That’s 2 Ashkenazis and 2 Mizrahis. They voted for the Likud mostly because of the racism they experienced. That resulted in much more Mizrahi Jews in places of power and the shrinking of the gap between Ashkenazi and Mizrahi Jews.
Justifiable or not, that clearly worked in their interest. But clearly you’re just looking to attack people, so I’m wasting my time.

42·1 year agoYou wrote it again, but do you mean Revisionist Zionism? I didn’t pretend, as it’s completely irrelevant.
You wrote that the hardcore Zionist tends to be European. You were corrected that it isn’t true today.
You should clarify yourself if you meant something else. The article points out Mizrahi are more right wing.
Likud’s voters are still mostly Mizrahi, even if less Mizrahi are voting for them as compared to the past.
And it isn’t the only right wing party or the most extreme one. Ben Gvir’s party is worse and also has mostly Mizrahi voters.I haven’t managed to find the articles that talked about the last election in the context of Mizrahi Jews, but you can go through the last election result map and see the places where the Likud got the highest percentages are almost all Mizrahi dominated.
And vote against their interests in which way?

31·1 year agoYou mean Netanyahu’s parents.
Where were Ben Gvir’s parents from? The majority of Likud, Shas and Ben Gvir voters are Mizrahi Jews.
Israeli Mizrahi Jews in general tend to be more right wing in general.

6·1 year agoArguably the non-PKK Kurds / Democratic Socialist state of Rojava (AANES). But they aren’t an active part of the current situation.
Best case scenario for Syrian citizens, is if the Turkey-backed Sunni Islamist forces and the Shia Islamist / Assad regime / Russian / Iranian forces considerably dwindle each other’s numbers and capabilities, with the Kurds swooping in at the end to help turn the rest of Syria into a Democratic Socialist state.

Which “progressive” government did Israel have in the last 30 years?
Barak and especially Rabin’s government stopped the settlements.
Olmert had the “realignment plan”, which was shelved due to the 2nd Lebanon war.

911·1 year agoSounds like they hit some missile manufacturing facilities. Hopefully they also hit some drone facilities.
Less missiles and drones for Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and for the Iranian militias’ attacks on the Kurds in Syria and Iraq.Edit: Seems like they did also hit drone facilities. Less Shahed drones for Russia.

85·1 year agoI agree it’s more complicated, but it doesn’t change what I wrote.
A weaker Iran means a weaker Russia and vice versa.
If both are weakened, Assad is weakened.
But I guess it’s not as clear cut with Turkey. Although the Kurds will have an easier time when they won’t have to fight Iranian, Syrian and Russian forces along with Turkish ones. And a weakening of Iran will also weaken Iranian-affiliated Iraqi militias that are also attacking Kurds.Russia didn’t let Israel, one of their bases were shot at for 40 minutes straight as a warning.
They also got a bunch of other warnings before and after. Russia won’t waste their time on this when they’re already losing so much in the war with Ukraine. Both Russia and Iran helped Assad in the civil war.
Israel is allied with Azerbaijan because of their border with Iran.
Turkey was already assisting Hamas even before. They’ll keep trade with Israel behind the scenes for economic reasons like they’ve always done.
And at the moment Russia is assisting Turkey in bombing the Kurds.
The dentals match. They compared it to the xrays they had of when he was treated in an Israeli prison.
But I guess they want to be 100% sure with the DNA test.

You’re thinking of right wingers.
You can find quotes of centrists like Yair Lapid decrying harming innocent Palestinians, and calling WB settlers “Jewish terrorists”.
And that’s without mentioning Israel’s left wing politicians.
