  • A gut punch to see Parkside and Bottom of the Hill will be gone by end of year.

As San Jose kids looking for fun, first thing we did in 2007 is load up a car and chip in for the $4.50 gallon gas to see punk shows at Parkside and BOTH. So many sick bands came through - felt like freedom.

Will always remember the Flatliners bassist chatting the crowd “y’all got a real good hockey team” back in 2009 when the Sharks were leading the league and being like damn, we’re on the map for this Toronto band.

Several Wilhelm Scream shows and definitely Fat Fest 25 at Parkside were incredible.

The previous resident left one next to the front door of our place and it seems to work great without power or data. Never had a problem.

  • My concern would be losing market share to other sources resulting in Wikipedia slowly being forgotten by future generations. Then the downstream of effects of fewer new contributions, and increasingly consolidated moderators.

Then not being at the forefront of the Internet hurts prestige that reduces donations. I agree with your point on ad revenue vs server costs, but I imagine a 20% reduction in traffic hurts their long strategy more than a 20% reduction on hosting costs.
