I’ve been using mpv to play music by running a shell/powershell script that I can add/remove songs to, but that use case requires shell literacy so it isn’t the most friendly. (You can use mpv as a GUI, but the GUI is pretty lackluster)
mpd might be better for your use case, but I’ve not used it that much and I don’t know how well it works on Windows.
It’s alright, but (in my experience) incredibly slow.
There’s also Iocaine
as an alternative to Anubis. I’ve not tried Anubis nor Iocaine myself though.
