Hey all, new here and learning to find my way around Lemmy. I noticed that everything I do in Jerboa is showing up in my Chrome history. How do I make that stop?

Jerboa likely uses webviews to display web content. WebViews on Android are shown by chrome by default. If you install Firefox you might be able to choose it to display webviews but it will still end up in history there. I don’t think you can make it stop, maybe the dev can.

Hmm. I do have Firefox installed but I don’t see any way to move the history there (and frankly I don’t want that either). That is disappointing, may be a deal breaker for Lemmy for me.

Yeah, I agree that sounds pretty scummy, especially since it isn’t spelled out anywhere. In the short term, I imagine you could disable the history through Chrome, or whatever you’re using as your default browser. I have been using the web version for now, since Jerboa still needs a ton of work. I just set up a direct link to my instance on my Android phone screen.

True, but my alternative option would be browsing Lemmy in my browser and I have the same end result.

Presumably nobody, but I don’t want to keep a record of it regardless. Only option I see to accomplish that would be to login manually from an incognito browser every time, and that sounds like a hassle.

I mean it’s fine to feel this way, but it’s an app in alpha. It doesn’t have the resources to have an in-app browser. It’s not like they are doing something shady.
