We would like to inform you about a Shield-gaining effect error with The House of Spiders: The Middle Apprentice Ishmael that was identified after the Jan. 29th, 2026 Scheduled Update.

Relevant Effect:
[Combat Start] At 6+ sum of Envy A-Reson., use “Violet~ Breaking Slam” as Counter (activates 2 times per turn)
[Combat Start] Gain N% of missing HP as Shield (once per turn) -
Before: The Identity did not gain Shield when the Defense Skill was switched with “Violet~ Breaking Slam” Counter

After: The Identity will now gain Shield even when the Defense Skill switches with “Violet~ Breaking Slam” Counter
The House of Spiders: The Middle Apprentice Ishmael’s Defense Skill, “I’ll Get You Back for This, Man”, comes with a mechanism that switches the Skill with “Violet~ Breaking Slam” at Combat Start.
Although the above Skill-switching mechanism is an intended spec for this Identity, the Shield-gaining effect at Combat Start was not applied due to the following process:
- The Skill-changing effect and the Combat Start effect both trigger at the same timing, however, because the Skill-changing effect takes precedence, it overrides the “[Combat Start] Gain N% of missing HP as Shield” effect of “I’ll Get You Back for This, Man”.
- The “Violet~ Breaking Slam” Skill-switching Counter does not include a separate Shield-gaining effect. Thus, when this Skill triggers as a counter, the Identity gains no Shield
The Middle Little Brother Sinclair Identity, which shares a similar mechanism with this Identity, activates its base Counter Skill’s Shield-gaining ability simultaneously with the switched Counter Skill in case its Skill-switch ability is activated.
Therefore, for the sake of consistency between Identities with similar mechanisms, we will be adjusting The House of Spiders: The Middle Apprentice Ishmael as follows:
- When The House of Spiders: The Middle Apprentice Ishmael’s Counter Skill “I’ll Get You Back for This, Man” is replaced with “Violet~ Breaking Slam” at Combat Start, the switched Skill still gains the “[Combat Start] Gain N% of missing HP as Shield” effect from the base Counter Skill
With this change, this Identity will gain Shield at Combat Start even when using “Violet~ Breaking Slam” as Counter, maintaining consistency between Identities with similar mechanisms.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this error, especially as this Identity’s Extraction period is still ongoing.
