Nat from yellow jackets! It’s set in the 90s which is my era, she’s vulnerable and alternative. She’s just like me
When I was much younger, Sofie from the Dick King-Smith Sofie series. A scruffy little tomboy that loves animals.
Eda from the Owl House, honestly. Adventurous, middle finger to authority, civil. Has a curse that affects her when she can get too tired or angry (but often for justice). Doesn’t give much of a fuck, literal girlboss.
I guess I really clicked with Miwa from 付きかな (How Do We Relationship): she just reacts in a totally understandable way to everything and has a lot of very similar personality traits. And Saeko is such a darling <3
Elizabeth from Elizabeth (movie). 😉
Seeing the character of Lou the gym manager from Love Lies Bleeding felt like someone had turned up the volume of me in my 20s … it was the first time I saw someone in a piece of fiction in that way.
Rosa from Brooklyn Nine Nine. Intensely private, has a stoic facade but surprisingly soft on the inside.
When I was young, Lyra Silvertongue from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. A highly intelligent girl who is curious, fearless, and doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do. A bit of a troublemaker.
Now, probably someone closer to The Mercenary Librarians by Kit Rocha. Strong women who work to better their community in a dystopian world, all while going on missions to save books and literature. (I use my library branches a lot, I purchase from indie bookstores, I buy cheap used books at the library bookshop and deposit them in neighborhood little free libraries, etc.)
Medea. Gave up everything for Jason. Was betrayed and abandoned for it. Got her revenge. The end. The vibes of that are … so heart-warming.
The other one might be Cassandra: predicts disaster, can’t get anybody to believe her. Welcome to my life.
Helena from Orphan Black.
