This is cheap yellow press garbage. You can criticize the German police and judicial system, but then you should provide some more insight based on facts. Comparing Germany to a dictatorial regime like Iran’s is blatant authoritarian propaganda.
There are plenty of reasons to criticize Germany, but agreed. The German police are not out there shooting or torturing protesters. The comparison to Iran and accusation of hypocrisy is honestly laughable. I was just reading that Iran has started hanging protesters. Apparently Iranian officials are claiming 2000 dead, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the true figure was much higher.
Bit of a tangent, but it’s been interesting seeing how some social media accounts have gone dormant, what with the Iranian internet blackout. Not on twitter, but apparently a lot of Scottish pro-indepence accounts are down. Similar stuff elsewhere.
Whataboutery, and it ignores the German judicial system and laws conc anti-semitism and discrimination of minorities completely.
Pro-Palestine = Anti-Semitism?
No. It is thus completely fine in germany to protest for the Palestinian cause - I did so myself, and I see many of such demonstrations every weekend in the city.
Can you protest for the freedom of Palestinians to have all their country back?
Things like burning flags, threatening murder, showing the symbols of prohibited terrorist organizations (eg hamas) or hateful signs (fascist swastika, the Russian Z) are not allowed, or signs, speeches that call for the annihilation or genocide of people - they are seen as hate speech. But you can carry an Israeli, Palestinian, Russian, Ukrainian flag.
