I have to feel sorry for the local New Year fireworks organisers. 7.30 the storm hit and it was still raining at 11, the most unfortunate timing ever. Last two days have been perfect as well.

Good news, all the local bogans were setting theirs off constantly!

Then the flood of lost dog posts appear as people return home from their parties to find their dog has been freaked out by fireworks and run off 😢

No doubt that would have been a thing here as well, I’m in Gympie.

The first half hour flogged pretty hard. It really was bad luck for them…over the space of four or five days of clear weather, the two hours they needed was the two hours it flogged down.

We had someone a couple of blocks from us let theirs off at 12.15…we assume they forgot or they couldn’t find their fireworks.

Our hotel room in Auckland faced the Skytower which was launching fireworks last night, so we got to watch them in simulcast - TV and real life.

Then we went to bed, cause we’re old. Asleep by 12:15am I reckon.

Fantastic. Glad you had that view, a great time and will remember it forever. ( Well as you said though, you’re old so who knows, you might not remember it for too long after all ;)

Haha. I’ve been in bed before midnight on NYE a few times to be honest.

      Happy New Year.
