Please don’t consider this a defense of the Irish government, my opinion couldn’t be lower of FFG (Fianna Fail & Fine Gael, our two main political parties), but it’s not really accurate to say they’re right wing in a significant way, not in the way the term is generally understood. It’s far more accurate to say they are a do-nothing government. They will say just about anything, especially whatever they think might benefit them but they won’t take any action unless it changes nothing of substance or it’s absolutely forced upon them.
