Are you aware that traffic lights nowadays can have much more complex programs than just a timer? For example, they can have sensors to detect waiting cars, remote controls to prioritize bus drivers and some regions even have GPS apps to prioritize cyclists.
Someone needs to tell Bloomfield this. I had to stop at 3 lights in a row today that changed for absolutely no reason. They were all one after the other on 187 by empty office buildings.
I have good news for you: the state, which controls those, not the town, is working on replacing a bunch of traffic signaling systems in town: https://portal.ct.gov/dot/ctdot-press-releases/2024/computerized-traffic-signal-system-replacement-on-route-218-in-bloomfield?language=en_US
Well that just made my day
