This is a concrete reason to let Tesla die.

You want to bend over backwards to keep your brand synonymous with that Nazi, you can go fuck yourselves.

So either (1) save $1,000,000,000,000, rescue the company’s image from the trash, regain control and stop being at the mercy of a capricious, paranoid, drugged-up Nazi sociopath with terrible ideas about designing electric cars, or (2) don’t? Seems like the mother of all no-brainers.

The reason is because the stock is inflated. My bias: I think most of the cars are good, the sales are pretty good, there’s a lot of good in there. But the stock is way over hyped, and it’s all because of Elon being either an outright liar or, if you’re charitable, extremely optimistic. If they lose their hype man, the stock might go somewhere close to where it actually belongs based on the financials of the company rather than based off of some idea that they’ll be producing armies of humanoid robots or fully autonomous vehicles, or Gundams or whatever his next “project” will be.

How long can that work for when everyone is getting wise to Elon’s bullshitting nature? Keeping him on may help them in the short term but in the longer term it may make no difference, and it will cost a lot.

Absolutely true but show me a recent instance of a company putting long term over short term. Someone is going to get fucked eventually, but they’re just hoping to kick the can long enough that it’s not them.

Isn’t the Board all people hand-picked by Musk, or family/friends associated with him? They are biased as hell…

    Risks?

Alternate “good world” headline: Tesla to gain opportunity to hire better CEO by denying Musks outrageous demand for 1 trillion pay package.

Sounds like not approving it kills two birds with one stone… He’s a liability and the board is stupid if they think otherwise

So they could save $1T over the next decade by not paying a guy who is all-around pretty terrible and isn’t even focused on your company since he has like 10 billion other things going on, as well as be able to focus on making one good product, rather than like, whatever new shiny thing this guy wants to pursue?

Oh shoot! If they lose elite coder Eloise Musq then who is going to write all that code for FSD?

On the other hand… could FSD really cost more than a trillion?
