In this release:

  • New way to browse posts. Just click on an image in the feed. I’m calling this the light box feed. ALSO you can zoom into photos from this view.
  • User tagging
  • Lots of bug fixes

Lightbox feed

  • Zoom into photos!
  • Yes you can use vim h/j/k/l to navigate. Finally a sophisticated way to browse Lemmy
  • As of right now, this feed makes it slightly more difficult to engage with the comments.
    • If you click the comment button (to the left of the voting buttons) you can see the full posts
    • Eventually I’m going to make it so you can swipe up when browsing via the light box feed to view comments

User tagging

  • As of right now there is no way to backup or export your tagged users. I’m planning on adding a way to export data from the app

Upcoming

  • It’s not looking too promising, but I’m experimenting with MBin support
  • F-Droid!

Could you post some screenshots? Either here, private message, or matrix? When you click login, do you see a list of instances or just Lemmy.zip? What instance are you trying to login to.

Generally it’s better to provide more detail than less. Describe exactly what you see, and the more screenshots the better. Pictures really are worth 1000 words when it comes to debugging.

    PeerTube Full screen let’s go

Also I am liking the light box feed, however I noticed that sometimes if the connection isn’t to good it rapidly cycles through posts until a image loads in time, even if the others were loading fine but taking a second

Damn it, I thought I fixed that.

Could you provide as much detail as you’re comfortable sharing?

      • What os/device size (tablet, phone, etc) you’re on
      • If you launched the lightbox feed from home tab, community, or post (screenshot maybe?)
      • If you click on a post, it should always launch the lightbox feed to the post you clicked on. By cycles though, I’m assuming it automatically cycled itself to a different post then you clicked on?

There is a known issue if you resize the app while the lightbox feed is open, the posts will cycle themselves. If you see any other post cycling (when you’re not interacting with the feed) that’s a bug.

Edit: another time you might get thrown to a new post is when the feed is refreshing in the background. My intention was for the feed to only refresh when you 1) relaunch the app or 2) manually pull to refresh. But I think that’s currently broken.

I’m on the latest TestFlight build on iPhone. I launched the feed from a community. By cycles through I mean that I swipe and instead of showing the image directly a loading Animation is shown. Then, instead of the image loading it instantly goes to the next post repeatedly until I’m at least twenty post further. It happened just a couple of times (2-3). Once the image loaded but the app was already moving to the next post so it just blinked up for a moment

Edit: it appears to be the same thing that happens when resizing, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t, but it might just be that

Unless you’re on an iPad or rotating your phone, I think it would be impossible to resize the app. So it’s probably a very similar but separate bug from resize.

If I’m reading the situation right, it sounds mildly annoying but not killing the feature? I’m going to keep an eye out for the bug, but I might not rush a fix out for a week or two.

Yeah when I said resize I meant rotating the phone.

It is just annoying as it doesn’t happen to often
