While I was critical about Qatar scrapping the sale of beer during the world cup, that was mostly due to the fact that they did it at short notice and as a fait accompli against prior agreements. I honestly don’t think that a world cup without drunk trouble makers is necessarily a bad thing. I think that having the world cup in a country where the local strongman has enemies dismembered with a bone saw is a bit more of an issue though.

Didn’t they do this last time and then just applied it like the day it started. Would expect that would happen again…
