Restored Comment This is a excellent game, I can't recommend it enough. If you like cerebral games - play this one. Don't watch reviews, don't read spoilers. Just play it blind. by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment Its kind of live action, and you do roleplay whatever you want to be. But yeah I agree it's not the perfect use of the word. Cyberpunk is a role-playing game in that you have a role to play, but it is not a role-playing game where you determine your own destiny and have significant impact on the outcome. I don't know if there's better ways to express that thinking, ARPG versus CRPG? But that lacks nuance as well by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment It's pretty good. I don't think it's $30 good. But it's pretty good, I would put it in the class of interactive fiction, an in-depth visual novel. As far as role-playing goes, it's good for LARPing, but you don't really get to craft your own story. There's lots of rails, there are narrative branches but they all come back to the same place. Kind of like a very well done Bethesda narrative environment, some okay storylines, some amazing storylines. It's all on rails, you can do it in different orders. It's a good immersion game. by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment You might enjoy more classical CRPGs, the Bethesda version of games tends to be more environmental comma /action RPG. Fallout 1, fallout 2, even fallout New Vegas are closer to the CRPG format. The best modern example is baldur's gate 3. That is definitely a CRPG where you can get invested in the story. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEQ7KR9enYdQsB6kcMnw0NA This YouTuber reviews lots of CRPGs, they're a good resource if you want to see if you're interested in other options. There's an excellent CRPGs out there that don't cost a lot of money. That are easy to get lost in for days Mortisimal gaming by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment Boulder gate 3 of course. Space wreck is a good one Divinity original sin 1 and 2 Depending on how patient you are atom RPG is really good Colony ship was excellent Wasteland 2, wasteland 3. More action RPG than CRPG but if you like the fallout 1 and 2 series, it kind of scratches the itch. But not as much narrative impact Disco Elysium is pleasant, but it's less CRPG and more experimental exploration, but it's nice I haven't played it myself but I hear good things about rogue trader by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment I actually really enjoyed the game. It was a great visual novel. Right up until the ending two scenes. The character took a huge nonsensical 180° change in focus, and their actions no longer matched what I was willing to condone as a player. I had to stop playing. I simply would not do the thing that the game required me to do that I did not agree with. At a philosophical level. I watched the last 10 minutes the game on YouTube. To see how the story finished. But I simply would not participate in such a abandonment of my character. So maybe this is just a case of me and the authors of the story diverging significantly and how we view the world, but it felt so so wrong by jet@hackertalks.com

Restored Comment https://steamdb.info/extension/ I use steam DB to track my wish list prices. But I genuinely forget why I wish listed something. I just assume if it's on my wish list and the price is low enough I'll just buy it. And figure it out. I typically buy games around $5. So at that point I'm willing to take a risk on forgetfulness. But I'd say for most games I remember why I found it interesting. Sometimes I have no clue. It's just part of the adventure by jet@hackertalks.com
