Nice concept, and I appreciate the effort to move beyond country borders and look at upland societies as a connected social space rather than isolated curiosities. The Southeast Asian Massif is a useful lens for thinking about marginality, languages, and how lowland states have used the highlands as resource buffers. The overlap with Zomia is inevitable, but I like that Michaud frames it more as a place, not just a theory about state evasion. That said, the article feels academic and a bit top‑down. The 300 m cutoff is arbitrary, the "100 million" number needs a solid, recent source, and the piece leans heavily on a few scholars instead of indigenous voices or on‑the‑ground ethnographies. Also irritating: lumping wildly different peoples into one "massif" risks flattening real diversity. The exclusion of the Tibetan world is glossed without enough nuance, and there's barely any discussion of modern drivers like migration, logging, mining, or state integration policies. Good starting point, but it needs more sources, more perspectives from the actual communities, and less of that smug, single‑label academic certainty.

Oh no, they're slightly different than fascists! You know, because it's 80 years later and things have changed slightly. He's 100% a modern nazi and fascist. Stop being an apologist for FUCKING NAZIS! What a sack of shit you are.

Hear me out yall. I know the word f*ggot is universally hated at this point in history and I'm aware that rednecks use it to degrade gays... but can we PLEASE start calling these people f*ggot again like we used to in the 90s. They deserve it and these old dudes know what it really means, it would kill them. They'd hate it so much esp because they aren't gay and they hate that shit. I never a day in my life would dream of calling a gay person that for the record, but these fools, they are the true f*ggots.

Who's this post for? Remember, Jewish voices in support of Israel don't count in the Fediverse, only performative Jew less hatred of Nazis (and Jews & Israel natch). Jewish pro Israeli posts are to be censored, and "moderated", while everyone congratulates themselves at how "anti-Nazi" they are.
