Non-gendered sounds like agender to me, which is just one way of being non-binary, but there are other ways of being outside the man/woman binary. It has 0 associations with computers to me. Do you prefer genderqueer?

It’s a decent umbrella term since there’s so much variation in experience and expression. It’s not always “not gendered.”

Shades and tints of gray aren’t exclusively “not black,” so to speak. Even more so if you’re a shade of green instead of black or white, and some are black and white checkered, and so on.

i think “non binary” makes a lot of sense as an unbrella term for all those who are not (exclusively) man or woman. i don’t know what could better express that… maybe “neither”? but i also personally don’t mind the possible computer association of the word binary.

with that said, i totally get feeling uncomfortable with certain labels. i personally also prefer “fuck gender. i don’t do that shit” over “non binary”

I agree with you, since in science we agree gender expression and identity are spectrums. “nonpolars” also work in this context. “within the spectrum” took a different meaning.
