In 2024, purely for fun, I’m going to try and read as many Penguin Modern Classics as I can. I'll be sharing short reactions/reflections to each book. I hesitate to call these ‘reviews’ because I am not an expert in literary criticism, and my personal views on these great works of literature are to be taken with the requisite pinch of salt. My reactions are intended to be fairly quick, spontaneous and unstudied. They are at best intended as short signposts to the overall themes and flavour of each book.
