the thing is that i am currently working and get not much free time, and maintaining and filling comms is hard. will wait for some time unti i am unemployed again
over here, basically all media houses (those who do tv) are basically paid indirectly by ruling party (we basically have a olligarcy mixed with populist fascism) so anyone raising questions against ruling party immediately is seen as better. If they are unaffiliated with opposition parties, then that is independent enough for me - basically do not take funding from parties or huge corporations, small corporates or businesses are fine as long as there is no major influence on content (they should not have editorial say on anything basically).
we do not have lobbying as a thing, and any politician taking money from any individual for any reason could be classifieed as wrong doing (that certainly does not stop quid pro quo, they just have to be creative in giving money)
i personally do not often read reporters names unless they are publishing on their own pages, though i have some saved pieces of works i have liked and will try to find a list of their names
well briar does not have calling on desktop (in stable yet at least), also jami can do video and screen share, and session is not p2p. what most p2p chats lack is users.

https://scroll.in/ (i mostly follow this because they provide rss feed, about 20-30 articles a day, but many are pulled from other sources)
also i follow bbc india (i do not think they fit any indie space)
in india, many new independent reporters went for the social platforms (serious ones to youtube, not serious ones to instagram), so one has to follow them basically reporter by reporter basis
i personally only majorly read english only, so would do that. my main source would be folks like scroll.in or bbc india, or reporters collective. if you want to check their work, to see if they fit, you definitely should. Also there are many youtube channels who do ground reporting independent of big media houses (news pinch comes to mind, but many more), so may also share that.
Occasionally I add explanations for words/terms North Americans may not understand, but that’s not necessary.
would do that, but i may not know exactly what terms should i add, so may wait for some comments to point out some specific words, otherwise, i can also do a brief post explaining what happens in india and some themes to know, but that would involve a lot work, so i would leave that to a future me (future me hates present me)
just plain for me. if they are salted, beyond a certain point i just start having a dry salty mouth and have to stop. must not stop eating cashews.
they can be either dry roasted, or roasted in some oil, but then again changes textures for me. just raw is my favorite
I would be interested to do india related stuff. I sparingly post to /c/india (piefed.social) community, but largely just read passively.
cashews for me. I can eat them for my whole life
there is gnu jami - messenger and video/audio calls
that is likely from things added for smell and moisturising. if you have ipa or some other alcohol, that just vaporises, leaving absolutely nothing, alongside also taking a bit of your moisture and skin oils.
in mine i add some iodine (anti-bacterial,etc), 6-aldehyde (very common medical disinfectant) some ipa and restt is water. it leaves very little behind, is a bit harsh on skin (i could make it milder, but just prefer strong), and is cheap when made in bulk.
i did not get this one. maybe you are refering about something i do not know. if it is about stickiness f sanitisers, that comes from glycerine and stuff, which mine does not ( i make my own by acquiring raw materials in larger quantities)
I keep sanitising myself, basically whenever i can. Not in a medical profession. I got this habbit before covid.
Is there some expert who has done / can walk us through this and try to explain it in more detail, like why particular directions were picked for certain buildings, or why there are size differences, or something in those lines.
thak you, it was less diy, more necessity making me work hard.
(we can still make fun of the og nodebb folks)
In my general socialist dream, all boring things should be non profit - education, healthcare, food (agriculture side, not th end product), water, electricity, land, communincations, transport (railway, busses), etc.. Basically things where 2 people doing someething will likely not breed creativity, but only trying to beat the other will require doing things like advertising, and to maintain profits, you would have to cost cut. these things also happen to be necessities that everyone has, and so must be provided by govt, and covered by taxes.
as for examples, atleast in us (and a lot of world), most governments do not operate telecoms (the cellular service), even though it is a boring thing. in india (where i live), there is bsnl and mtnl, and pprovides a basic service, which not only keeps the for profit companies at their toes (technically they are not non-profit, at least not registered one, but they basically do not aim to make profits). another example is agriculture - it is often subsidised, and but it is still for profit. over here, we have large cooperatives (they are also not non profits, and they actually do make profits - thy just invest back into the cooperative) for dairy and agri industry, which not only helps farmers havee stable incomes, but they can often fall back on their saved profits. railways are often partly (or completely) govt owned (might not be the case in land of free, but i know of amtrak) so that is already a well known example - try to use all profits to maintain rail cars and tracks.
beyond these, things can be for profit (art or media for example), where 2 separate things can exist, do not (necessarily) eat each others business and often done for leisurely needs (not necessities)
As with all places on interent where you can post stuff, there are memes - start with them. find your favorite meme community, and since on pieffed, you can explore user made feeds (meta communities if you will) where you can select interests and get relevant community content getting delivered.
Our vacuum pump for a machine got better. we had a leak and could not maintain pressure for long, but that got fixed by changing a pipe, and for the rest, changing/cleaning o rings and just doing that same thing 4-5 times produced different results. now reaches much closer to expected value. (leaving out details for privacy reason, but it is a scientific equipment that it connects too)
