There have always been fuel stations that get shut down and you see them around town already either abandoned, repurposed (often hand car washes) or demolished and built over.

As these gradually shut down in the future, I wonder if some could just go straight to becoming commercial charger stations. Or if anyone can think of a better use for a large outdoor covered parking area + large underground storage tank + small convenience store.

I still like tech and like making things too. Really glad I made my gaming PC and server before this current hardware crisis. I keep to areas not affected by AI or hardware problems. I made a bunch of mechanical keyboards/macropads, hitbox leverless fight controllers, etc. I want to make an emulation arcade machine for my kids but AI induced RAM crisis has made that difficult. Want to dabble in home automation too but I’ll wait till I have the time to take that on. The more hardware modding I can do and the more woodwork I can incorporate, the better.

Their search has been shit for a long time. It has helped other search engines though. My brothers resisted leaving Google because they found the search quality was best. Now it’s shit enough for them to consider that DDG does just as good a job.

Allowing their search and video platform to get flooded by AI is insane, but they’re fully committed because they’re chasing their own AI agenda so they can’t really stand against AI. Amazon has done the same by allowing their platform to be flooded with cheap, useless, generic products and fake reviews. The real baffling thing is why people still keep using (and even worshipping) these asshole companies.

YouTube is like Imgur, it’s a media dump. Most of it is trash. If you’re going directly to YouTube.com or from any place other than community link recommendations or to your known curated channels; then it is no surprise that you come across shit 90% of the time.

The fact that their search function fails to find relevant guides or tutorials is a real loss, but they’ve opted to enshittify.

Keeping an eye put for deals on older models. This seems like such an ideal emulation gaming device. OLED screen would have really nailed it.

I needed to make a chat server for a bunch of normie extended family members. They need an easy to use mobile chat. Registering on PC complicates things. Then adding the mobile client for authorised encrypted messaging wasn’t really going to be realistic for everyone to do.

If anyone knows of a chat/voice/video self hosted app thats easy to deploy and use, I would be very interested in any suggested solution. Vocechat was not easy to deploy or get voice chat working….and the app sucks.
