Medical bills can very easily get into 6 and even 7 digits.

I wouldn’t try to self-insure unless I had an 8-digit networth.

If you don’t mind sharing: where to?

If you do mind, I definitely understand.

Financial demands on parents have increased, but so have non-financial demands.

Unless you have a lot of support from extended family (which also means that you live near them), I really don’t see how parents do it.

I’m not sure that would actually be a step in the right direction.

They’ve been showing their ass a lot lately.

It’s super obvious why they’re trying to shove AI down our throats on anything and everything.

And how many households have 2 such payments?

I very much wish I could go car-free, but I have at least drastically reduced my vehicle usage over the past few years.

Society has become outright hostile to parents. Cost is a major reason, but far from the only one.

The future does not look too promising.

I don’t even know where I would go at this point if I was picking up stakes.

Most drills that I’ve seen do have a screwdriver setting on them. It differs from normal drilling in torque and probably speed.

Tribalism is an inherent part of human nature. Capitalism and nationalism certainly exacerbate and exploit this though, no doubt about it.

The social dynamic would flip overnight if Americans suddenly had self control.

“If only everyone would get together and collectively do <insert whatever>” we could actually fix a lot of problems.

There is no solidarity in society. Much of that is by design, but a lot of it is human nature.

It’s also why we can’t stop using fossil fuels. Those who refuse to use them will be outcompeted by bad actors and left behind.

If something can be done, someone will do it if it gives them a competitive edge. Classic prisoners’ dilemma.

Civilization is terminally ill. The question is what will get us first, AI or climate change? Or something else?

Tbh, contact sports seem so much more disparate than non contact sports.

Does this also extend to combat sports (e.g. MMA), or is it more of a team sports thing?
