That was my thought too. But when you can’t stop another inertia the best you can do is make sure they do it as safely as possible.

I made my first touch game in Unity. I tested all the system and everything worked after weeks of testing and I wasn’t able to find more bugs.

I gave my phone to my wife and asked her to try it. Immediately she was able to get the character to warp across the screen. I didn’t code this and based on my code this was impossible to happen.

After more testing I discovered that it wasn’t my code which was bugged but Unity’s. Since she was touching the screen in a way that it didn’t register that her finger was removed from the screen.

Ever since all my games touch inputs have manual timers to ensure that a touch is actually registered. And I give her my games to test since she usually breaks it in weird and wonderful ways.

On the one hand. I don’t like this, since I install apps off of Google Play all the time. This is beyond stupid and I hope OEMs doesn’t include it.

On the other hand I just helped a colleague try to get a cheap fitness tracker to work on her phone and the manual took her to a random website for the required app. Thankfully the link was dead but even after I said “I don’t trust this link” she proceeded to try and download it twice.

For her I hope this is enabled by default and scares her from disabling it since I feel she will have her banking details stolen if she is left to her own devices.

I don’t think there is much you can do to fix freecad. That said, it’s my go to cad software and the improvements while small are nice to have.

I am just hopeful other open sources devs takes inspiration from the work done here.

I’ve used a fair share of video editors over the years. Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and KDENlive.

Even in Linux Resolve is the better editor and works with my workflow. However the hardware requirements is large, and the use of ffmpeg to convert mp4 aac to a useable format is annoying on Linux, but nothing a batch script can’t help with.

KDENlive feel like an in between step of Windows Movie maker, and. Vegas. It has the functionality of a more advanced video editors, but its UI makes it feel as restrictive as Movie Maker.

There is a strong app here, it just needs polish like Audacity is getting. Hoping it gets better, since actual competition in Linux is a win for everyone.

The markets are unpredictable. I view my physical collection as the archive. Yes they are in boxes but they are the proof of ownership for my rom library.

If you don’t care and want to sail the high seas for your games, then sell them when you want. Otherwise I’d make nice displays for them and have them as art.

I just updated. It’s not a substantial update and good news is that nothing broke (: . But the updated start menu in Cinnamon 6.6 is a welcomed addition. I honestly miss Windows XP/7’s start menu and this is close enough that I don’t feel like changing it.

EDIT: I take that back, printers don’t work. Neither my HP nor my Brother Network Printer are being detected.

The biggest issue is the price. I remember a time when even the poorest kid in class had a Nintendo because it was cheap.

The last cheap Nintendo was the 2DS over a decade ago. Most parents are looking for cheap hardware with entertainment and there isn’t anything which comes close to it.

Even the switch lite is the same price as the PS3 bundle back in the day. And it came with 2 real controllers and a game.

I am going to play devils advocate right now and say the Canadian Government should not leave Xitter. Not because it isn’t a cesspool, I deleted my profile ages ago. But I feel they should keep and continue to post on Xitter since if they stop they will allow others to control the narrative. And despite our views that we should support alternatives, Xitter is still insanely popular.

If the Canadian Government should do anything they should either make their own Social Platform (like their own Mastodon server), or move over to BluSky and use their old Xitter accounts as a Mirror. Where content and important messages are still posted, but discussion and replies are on the other platforms.

Eventually when Xitter implodes like other social media before it, then the Government already has established social media ready to go.

Otherwise keep it. OS version and software support is arbitrary these days. Some times it matters, other times not so much

I have the older 7640u Framework 13.

As a coders laptop it’s fantastic. Keyboard is excellent and it’s modular port design makes it’s limited 4 port extremely versatile for your needs. Plus the 2880x1440 display is perfect for text.

As a gaming laptop. Hummm. It can play games, but the display kills performance in games. The iGPU can’t handle much more than 720p for newer games. Without using a dedicated GPU I don’t know if any other laptop can do a better job and I was able to play most indi games at a solid frame rate. However a steam deck is a better way to play games.

In terms of battery life. Left in a bag there will be some juice left the next day. With light office work I was able to get 4-6 hours on it, with 2-4 if I was gaming and the fans were cranking.

I have a bulldozer CPU, though 6300 fix I think. It was dog slow and barely performed even with my GTX 760. I got a significant performance jump when I got the Ryzen 5 1600.

If you have a AM4 platform then it’s worth the upgrade. There isn’t much to pull from AM3. And heck for the price you are better off getting another steam deck and a USB C dock and use it as a Desktop.

The processor in the Steam Deck in insane and the best performing chip I’ve used. Even my AMD powered Framework 13 is slow compared to it.

The only area KOreader fails in is the lack of widgets. Coolest (or not depending on how you see it) is the Chinese ereaders use it as their devices reading engine and make their own launcher to throw you into KOreader.
