Alternative Disclosure Control algorithms
lternative algorithms for selective data disclosure Alternative Algorithms for Privacy Audits of Aggregated Tabular Data
In official statistics, the subfield of Statistical Disclosure Control (SDC) exists to ensure official data does not accidentally violate the right to confidentiality of any statistical unit. For the European official statistics ecosystem, the industry standard is the cell suppression method, as implemented by the Tau-Argus software for tabular data. In many agencies, the move to modern cloud platforms necessitates new software solutions due to the many legacy or unmaintained components of Tau-Argus. This project is about R&D in alternative methods and improving on existing probabilistic and heuristic methods for the SDC workflow, with special attention given to improvements to the new heuristic cell suppression method of the GAUSS algorithm.
This project was funded through the NGI0 Commons Fund, a fund established by NLnet with financial support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet programme, under the aegis of DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology under grant agreement No 101135429. Additional funding is made available by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
